Kate recounts
The cold mountain wind ravaged my hair to keep tight in my tail. Emma and Michael were next to me at the top of the hill, the rest of the team was in Gabriel's village, and in the distance there were Screechers and Imps approaching like a black cloud closer and closer to us.
“ What happened, Kate?” I hear Michael next to me.
I look more closely at the monsters that are getting along with us. I don't know, I just don't have a good presentiment.
“ Why would Dire Magnus do that? I mean, what's the point?”
Emma is the one who answers me.
“ How does he care what Dire Magnus wants?”
In my sister's eyes I see anger, determination and a dash of revenge all reflected in her eyes combined with her sword made her a goddess of war.“ Gabriel helped us when we needed him. Now it's our turn to return the favor to him.”
The army was approaching like a black cloud becoming bigger and bigger. It wasn't good.“ Did he bring his whole army?” Asked my brother.
Why? It was the only question that had no answer. Why would Dire Magnus want to conquer Gabriel's village? What would he gain from disposing of him?
Arriving back in his village I see the men equip themselves for battle by sharpening their weapons. We enter Granny Peet's cottage which is warm compared to the bad weather. Derek, Granny Peet, Dena, and Abigail were stacked above a parchment discussing their battle strategy. When they see Emma, they all stand up asking for more information. Michael also comes along with them.
I feel the heat in the cabin becoming more and more suffocating, and my breathing gradually becomes irregular. I feel myself suffocating and an invisible weight presses my chest. I go outside into the cold air as it enters my lungs. Muscles begin to relax, but the feeling of fear remains in my soul. I walk around the village analyzing the situation. Jake, Beetles, Wilamena and Captain Anton lead mothers and children through the portal to a safer place.
I see a little girl who appears to be more than six years old with her mother by her side as she clutches her father.
“ Why can't you come with us?” And I watch her eyes twinkle in tears.
Her father caresses her hair.
“ It's my duty to stay, but as soon as it's over I promise to get back to you.”
Then he looks at his wife. To both. She smiles at him then grabs her daughter by the hand of both of them trekking through the portal. The little girl smiles at her father once more before disappearing through the portal. After they leave the man no longer seems so sure on his promise I see in his eyes fear and doubt.
One hand grabs mine.
“ It's going to be fine, “ Rafe tells me.
“ I hope you're right.”
I'm about to kiss him when I hear a door behind us and Emma walks out of Granny Peet's cottage and walks towards us.
Rafe seems annoyed by the sudden interruption.
“ I have to talk to you. “ Her words make me and Rafe curious.
“ What happened?”
“ I don't know how to tell you.”
I didn't know if it was bad or very bad.“ Emma.” Rafe says briefly and bluntly by warning his sister-in-law.
She seems to grasp the message.
“ Remember when Mrs. Burke said that Stormfire could bring someone out of the dead?”
Me and Rafe nodded.
“ Well, it's time for the Queen of the World of the Dead to join us in the battle.”
So, I am sorry that I missed so much but now that I finished college and everything was fine now I can concentred better on this book and write more chapters.
