CHAPTER 33
Kasandra recounts
It was a cloudy day and it looked like it was starting to snow, so I was in the music room rehearsing the song from last time. When I finish I hear the front door close. It was dad. When he sees me he smiles.
" Kasandra, what are you doing here?"
I put my violin in its case but keep the bow in my right hand, dad sits down at his desk, I approach him, playing with the bow, walking it between my fingers.
" I was just rehearsing. I wanted to be ready for the Christmas show."
Dad smiled looking at me.
" Honey, stop being so modest, you would sing this song in your sleep."
I raise an eyebrow.
" Maybe you're right, I think I should trust my instincts more."
I hold the bow firmly in my hand and with the strength I have in me and the magic I have for more I thrust the bow into his right hand. Dad looked at me startled and wincing in pain.
" What are you doing here? I ask him coldly."
He didn't seem to notice me.
" What does that mean?"
" End this game until I give you a real reason to suffer."
Dire Magnus looked at me with the same familiar eyes as my father.
" How did you figure that out?"
" Let's say it was instinct."
I read pride in his eyes.
" Did you really have to resort to such methods?" He pointed to the hand stuck in the desk.
" I have an aunt who is a warrior, one who is a Savage and the other a dragon. Honestly, what did you expect?"
I pressed the bow tighter in his hand drawing a small gasp of pain from him.
" If you don't tell me in the next twenty seconds you will lose your arm."
" I just want to talk to you."
" About?"
" About you. But I could speak better if I didn't have a bow in my hand."
Then his smile curves into that of a wolf ready to devour his prey, his left hand grabs the bow and pulls it hard as he does it makes no sound and his hand begins to heal.
" Hades is a dangerous enemy, you cannot fight him alone. You need help."
I became sceptical of his words.
" And what do you suggest?"
" The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
I start laughing then stop.
" Oh, wait, wasn't that a joke?"
He seems to have lost his patience with me.
" I can be very persuasive when needed."
I feel like his words have a different meaning.
" What did you do?"
Kate recounts
The fight had started like a storm meaning you didn't even know it had started until you were in the middle of it. The Screeches and Imps were attacking from all sides separating me from Rafe. I had given up my human form choosing the tiger so my sharp teeth tear the jaws of the Screeches and Imps. I'm more than sure I'll be sick later, but I don't want to think about it now.
