Kate recounts

After Kasandra leaves, I go back to the kitchen where Derek is gathering the table, but with his mind is elsewhere, I go to him and grap him by the hand as the dishes reach the sink.

" I think you released a lot of memories for a day, what would it be like to sit down? Maybe it would suit you?"

Derek finally seems to resign himself and goes to the living room taking a seat on the couch, I sit next to him he leans with his arms on the back of the couch and looks blank, now he's not here he's somewhere far away in memories, I don't think at least he noticed me.

" When you're in a coma it's very strange, your whole body is paralyzed, but your mind screams for help, when Pym was there and told me everything in the outside world, I wanted so badly to hear me, to I say I'm here and he doesn't give up on me and he didn't give up no matter how much the curers or the doctors told him that I was tired and that it would have been good for him to give up, but if he did I would be dead. Pym paid a cartload of money to keep them from doing this. I always heard him say that he wasn't giving up on me, that I had to live, that I still had a thousand reasons to live." He paused for a while, " after a while he didn't come, I thought he had abandoned me, and I was just a forgotten patient, so I gave up, I took refuge in the World of Deaths and I stayed there, I forgot who I am, what I had life and I stayed there, until your sister judged us all, and I remembered everything and found those thousand reasons to live my life... then the rest of the story you know."

Derek got up from the couch and walked in front of the fireplace where there was a family photo where we were all, behind us was the Cambridge Falls mansion, it was summer, Kasandra was six years old and she felt great getting soaked to the skin with her aunts and her uncles. I see Derek pick up the photo and smile in the corner of his mouth, then turn to me.

" You and Henrietta would have gotten along so well, you would have been like best friends. And I'm sure where she is, she's grateful for everything you have done for our family. So,... thank you very much Katherine Wibberly for the trust and will you have shown my family." Derek put the picture back and left without saying anything and left me alone, sometimes Derek had a special strangeness that I thought Kasandra and I could no longer understand and now it had been one of those moments.

When I get to the office I do my work and after I finish I receive messages from Kasandra telling me that she is in the Bowery neighborhood buying ingredients for Derek and that she had taken Zoey and her cousins with her, that my nephew had found out about his name and jumped of happiness, and Gabriela hoped not to have a heart attack from so much joy. I had started laughing. Suddenly I hear a knock on the door that interrupts me, nothing was written in my agenda about any meeting. The beating had been heard once more, interrupting my thoughts, without being too pleased I had told the person to enter. In front of me appears a woman who is taller than I had first seen her with perfectly blond hair arranged in curls, her dark blue eyes that gave a sparkling purple hue and a wide smile that I knew was just the facade for that whenever she was beautiful on the outside she had a black soul full of hatred and revenge, now the Countess get in relaxed in my office and examining everything with great conceited attention...but that was impossible...she was dead...Willy had crushed her in the second Michael had brought her to life.

" Katrina, how glad I am to see you it's been so long since we've seen each other." She said contentedly, looking at my shocked face. " How are you? "

I hadn't answered her question and she had sat down on the couch holding a picture of Kasandra that had been taken quite recently, she didn't seem to have had any Screechers by her side...was fine by now.
