Small Town, Big City

A small town of familiar faces,
now fades off into the distance
moving away from a hometown
to a big, unfamiliar city.

A city full of mysterious faces
where all sights have become inscrutable.
From a school of five hundred
to one nearly four times that size.

From seeing a red barn lazing in the distance
to the sight of busy, lively skyscrapers.
From seeing the large dark sheets above me
filled with bright, twinkling beauty
to seeing the city lights shining without an end.

This city may be where I reside,
but where I left my heart,
will always be my home.
