Seize the day,
carpe diem
a pointless phrase
how can one be asked
to simply seize the day
when one has so much to do.
We are asked to go to school
we are asked to go to work
we are asked to live
others lives for them,
and have very little time
to do what we please to do.
We value our school grades
over our happiness.
We value our income
more than we value our hobbies.
We are all in competition
to be one another.
Don't ask me to carpe diem
when I have so much to take care of
before I can take care of myself.
