Chapter 13

***

Axel's P.O.V

Shit.

Lacey. My ex-step-sister. Crazy fucking bitch is one way to describe her. Plenty more.

I sigh and rub my temples. She is so fucking annoying and clingy. After my dad and her mom broke up we had a thing. She called it dating, but it was more like a one night stand.

Tyler laughs, breaking the silence which I was enjoying. "For real dude? You," he says poking his finger in to my chest. "Are getting stressed over girls. Cute."

I smack his finger away and scowl at him. I'm going to need an Advil pretty quick if he doesn't keep his big mouth shut.

I decide not to answer and lean back onto the couch. I. Hate. Girls.

So much drama. The only thing they are good for is a fuck.

I sigh again and get up, grabbing myself another beer. I have no idea how in the hell they managed to get beer since we were only 19, but I was glad it was here. "Why did you decide to tell me this now?" I ask, gesturing to the scenery around us. "I thought it was guys night or something."

Tyler and Cams gazes lower to the floor.

"What?" I exclaim. "Are you going to spit it out?"

Tyler sighs. "She found us man. Before we found her, I mean. Cam over here," he says swatting the side of Cam's head. "Didn't use any of his computer magic to keep a look out or something."

Cam shrugs. "I figured those drug dealers were more important than psycho bitch Lacey. Plus, we have no idea where she is at all. So how am I supposed to set a tracker on her then?"

"Tyler. Use your fucked up way of finding people, and find Lacey. Cam, give him a tracker. I want to know where she is. I don't want her getting caught up into my life. Again."

-

Cadence's P.O.V.

I chew on my cheeks, desperately trying, but failing, to keep myself entertained while class drones on.

I slump in my seat and let my head rest on my arms. My eyelids are just closing when the professor finishes his lecture and tells us to leave.

I stand up and groggily make my way to the exit. A piece of paper taped up to the wall catches my attention. I furrow my eyebrows and decide to check it out. It reads:

Help wanted! Receptionist needed for Daniel Craig Motors. Call 555-456-7899 for more information.

I smile. Perfect. I've been looking for a job for a while now and a receptionist sounds awesome.

I quickly write the phone number down on my phone and head towards my car.

Penny texts me and says that Cam is taking her to coffee. I smile. Even though his best friend is a complete jerk, I still kind of like Cam. He was the quiet one. Not quite so cocky. He and Penny were perfect together.

I look at the phone number and type it in on my phone.

"Hello, this is Daniel Craig Motors, how may I help you?" A bored female voice asks.

"Hi!" I say cheerfully. "I was calling about the add that was up about the receptionist job opening."

I hear mumbling in the background and then the voice comes back on. "Yeah. I think your hired."

I clear my throat. "Think?"

"Wait a minute." A few seconds pass by with mumbling in the back. "Yep. You're hired. Next week you can come in. We can work on your schedule when you get here."

I'm trying my very hardest to keep the excitement out of my voice, but I fail.

"Okay! Bye!"

The line clicks dead without the other person saying bye.

Jesus. No wonder they need a different receptionist.

I start up my car and head down the highway, deciding that I could go for some coffee at the moment.

I pull up to Starbucks and send Penny a quick text.

Me: Hey, bae. Let me know how the date went.

Penny texts back shortly.

Penny: it's not a date. Just strictly coffee.

Me: Don't shit with me girl, I know you're bursting of excitement on the inside.

Penny: I know! I'm freaking out. SOS.

Me: Stop being dramatic and enjoy the moment. Sorry but I gtg. I need some liquid energy of my own.

I put away my phone and pull the keys from the ignition.

Grabbing my purse I open the door and head inside the Starbucks. I get my usual and take a seat, watching as people go in and out of the store.

Just as my number is called a girl walks in who looks familiar but I can't put my finger on who she is.

She doesn't look happy though.

I grab my coffee and sit back down, all while keeping a close eye on her.

How do I know her?

She stomps right up to a dark haired girl who has been sitting there for a while, scrolling up and down on her phone. The girl looks up with little surprise on her face and instead raises her eyebrow at the childish girl standing in front of her.

"What do you want, Jessica?" She asks.

That's how I knew her! She and Axel, make out session, nastiness.

I immediately start to eaves-drop into there conversation. I just hoped she didn't recognize me.

"He is mine, Lacey." She says in a dangerously low voice.

Lacey let's out a snort and returns to looking at her phone. "Oh please, Jess. We both know he's just using you."

Jessica's mouth falls open. "Oh really?" She shrieks, making everyone give her an annoyed glance. "Like he didn't use you?"

I can sense a kitty fight coming on, and I perk up in my seat. This has to be about Axel. At least I hope. It would be so much more entertaining that way. Both girls think that he actually gives a fuck about either of them, when in reality all he cares about is himself.

"He didn't use me." Lacey clarifies. "Because we're still dating."
