Chapter 19
***
Cadence's P.O.V
I wake up with a pounding headache. I don't even want to open my eyes, because I know the minute I do I'll regret it. So I roll over and put the blanket, that somehow got on me, over my head. I hear some talking close to me, so I listen.
"Dude, this is crazy. Not only is your girlfriend probably high AND hungover, we have drug dealers that are going to kill us. And all this time we have been worrying about Lacey!"
I don't know who's saying that, but I know it is either Cameron or Tyler.
"They aren't going to kill us, Tyler, stop over reacting." I know that's Cameron. "We just need to pay them back, that's all."
"With what? Monopoly money? We're completely broke!"
"Our parents are rich as fuck!" Axel says.
"They aren't just going to loan us close to 1,000 dollars without being suspicious!" Tyler complains. "Dad said he's only paying rent, nothing else!"
"Calm down!" Axel's voice booms throughout the whole room, causing even me to cringe. I can't imagine what Tyler looked like right now.
"Everyone just shut the fuck up and let me think."
I try to get up after a long moment of silence. I need to see what's going on. More like find out what's going on. I rub my eyes and open one eye at a time. The light isn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.
I feel a but woozy, but I'm able to stand on my own. I grab the doorknob and twist it, seeing Axel and his two friends sitting in an awkward silence. The moment they hear me, all of their heads fling towards me to stare.
I smile, I have an outrageous urge to laugh my head off. So I sit in the doorway giggling 'till I collapse on the floor with laughter. All three boys groan.
"Great. She's high."
Whoever said that was on their way to me, which made me back away. He looked like he was walking SO slow. Like almost in slow motion! It was crazy!
"Cadence, come here. You need to eat something." Axel says. At least I think it's Axel, it sure sounds like him.
My giggling stops as I watch in fascination. Eventually after a while Axel sighs, and picks me up bridal style, causing me to giggle even more. I pound on his chest playfully. "Put me down, bad boy." I slur.
He chuckles, setting me down on a stool. "You think I'm a bad boy?"
"The worst boy." I say while ruffling through some papers, which Axel moves quickly from my reach. So I bite on my nails. I can't seem to sit still.
"How come?" He says while unwrapping a banana and setting it on a plate.
"That's what everyone says. Plus, you do drugs, right? That's like the number one way to become a bad boy!" I say excitedly.
Axel hums in response, while setting the plate down in front of me and then walking across the island to take a seat next to me.
"Oh my god," I say in the middle of chewing my banana. "This is the best thing I've ever tasted!"
Axel chuckles. "Part of your high."
I giggle for an unknown reason and dip finish off my banana. "I'm tired." I say, yawning in the process.
Axel grabs my hand and leads me back to where I came from. He covers me up, and is walking out the door way when I call to him lightly.
"Goodnight Axel."
"Night, Cadence." He says, then clicks off the light and closes the door.
-
"Axel, you better tell me that all of that was a dream!" I practically scream as I rip open the door and find my way through his apartment.
He sits on the couch, innocently tapping away on his phone. He looks up to me, putting his phone away and patting the spot next to him.
I glare at him, cross my arms and raising my eyebrow.
"Okay, I can explain."
I stay silent, waiting for him to go on.
"So I had a fake ID for you-"
"Why in the hell did you have a fake ID for me?" I say, throwing my hands up in the air.
Axel shrugs. "I figured it might come in handy for your bucket list."
I'm burning up with anger but gesture for him to go on.
"-and then you might have had one too many drinks and got a little bit drunk. Not to bad though. But then our waiter A.K.A- my drug dealer's girlfriend- came with hash brownies."
"Hash brownies? Wait, you mean like, weed brownies?"
Axel nods. "Yeah, and then you saw those and took a couple bites, resulting in you getting high."
"And now," Tyler says, coming into the living room randomly. "Our drug dealer is looking to kill us."
I frown. "Why?"
"We don't exactly have the money for those brownies, and when you took a bite that was considered as bought." Axel explains.
"Damn, though. Franklin said those were some really good quality brownies." Tyler complains, while clicking on the TV.
"Franklin is your drug dealer then, I'm guessing." I question.
"Yep."
"Wait, so why did he give you the brownies if you didn't order them or something?" I ask, still confused.
"That's just the thing. We didn't order them. He was offering, but we didn't have the money so we would have just declined, but..."
I rub my forehead in worry. "Oh my god. You guys are going to die because of me?"
"We aren't going to die." Axel assures me. "We are going to get the money."
Tyler scoffs. "From who?"
"My dad."
This makes Tyler turn his head in suprise.
"You." He says, pointing to Axel. "Are going to ask your dad?"
Axel sighs. "Right now that is our only choice."
I scrunch my eyebrows together in confusion. "Isn't your dad really rich?"
"Yeah. He's like a fucking billionaire. But do you know what else billionaires are?" Tyler says. After I don't answer he smiles at me and says: "Assholes."
