When I awake, Adonis is in the room with us, along with the doctor who is tapping something into my IV again.
I look to the doctor, reaching up to wipe the drool off of my mouth. Ew.
"Morning sleepy head," Usok teases as I sit up, my arms and back aching as I do.
I smile tiredly at him, falling back into the bed, which is raised slightly so I'm half sitting half laying down, my legs crossed.
I don't know how or when they crossed, but my knees ache slightly.
"So we've decided to go with the NG tube?" The doctor asks Usok, and my eyebrows raise.
Who's we?
Usok clears his throat, glancing at me, "Yes, and she hasn't eaten in the past 24 hours."
How long was I sleeping?
"Great, we can insert it today then. I'd say..." The doctor glances at the clock, and I now see his name tag. Dr.Dibello.
"In an hour, so we'll give her the medication that makes her calm again, to help with the discomfort." He scribbles on his clipboard, like I've seen him doing almost every time he's in here.
Dr.Dibello bends down more toward my bed, "An NG tube is a small tube that goes down your nose and into your stomach. It makes it so you can get food without actually having to eat."
Woah, woah, woah I didn't agree to this.
"I'll give you more medication in your IV to keep you calm, it will be very uncomfortable but once it's in I promise it will get easier." Dr.Dibello says calmly and quietly, standing to his full height afterward.
"Any questions?" He looks between the three of us, me longer than the rest, and when no one says anything he nods and once more writes on his clipboard.
When he's finished scribbling, Dr.Dibello nods at Usok and Adonis, smiles gently at me one last time before leaving the room.
I huff, slouching in the bed. If I can barely look at an IV, how am I supposed to have whatever an NG tube, uhh where does it go again?
I still feel funny, everything around me seeming fuzzy even though my vision and ears are perfectly clear. It's like my mind is clouded in fog.
The beeping I had once gotten used to now makes me scrunch my nose in annoyance.
Although he sighs, I don't miss the small smile on Usoks face as Adonis replaces his previous spot next to me.
"Hey, sweet girl. I know you didn't know about this, but I promise you it will work in your favor. You know how you feel right now?" Adonis asks gingerly.
I'm taken aback, how does he know I feel weird?
I nod slowly, although it's not as slow as yesterday.
