Mark was thrilled to go to class on Monday.
He knew he would see his crush, so he arrived early as usual, but this time, there was a noticeable brightness in his aura.
After carrying the weight of denial and cowardice for so long, he had finally mustered the courage to talk to her properly—and even secured a hangout.
Mark remained in his seat as more of his classmates arrived, patiently waiting for the omega.
And then—
His brows furrowed, and his train of exciting thoughts came to an abrupt stop.
Surely he couldn't just stand up, walk over to her, wave his hand and say hi, muster a small smile, and casually chat.
Yes, that kind of approach and conversation was normal—but not for people who had never had any close public interactions before.
Wouldn't it be weird for the others to suddenly see them talking as if they were close friends?
Mark's distress returned, and he facepalmed, massaging his forehead in frustration.
"Hey, Mark."
The alpha immediately looked up, his eyes widening slightly in surprise.
Danielle chuckled. "Why do you look so surprised?"
"I didn't notice you were here."
"Of course, you didn't; I took pills."
"Why?"
"No reason," she shrugged. "Anyway, I'm here to tell you that your mom invited me over for tomorrow. Giselle told me."
"Mom wants you there?"
She nodded. "And since Gi doesn't have class tomorrow, she suggested that I go with you."
"Oh," Mark said, trying to stifle a smile. "Sure."
"Great! Uh... there's no dress code or anything, right?"
"No, just wear something presentable but comfortable. You'll look good in anything."
Danielle's face flushed slightly, and Mark himself was taken aback by his own words.
He meant it, though, and he didn't want to take it back.
Mark smiled. "I mean, you're pretty, and you always dress well. I'm sure my mom will welcome you either way."
"You're a charmer. I bet you've had plenty of girls fall for those smooth words."
He chuckled. "Maybe, but I don't entertain them the same way I do with you."
Danielle's cheeks heated up instantly, and she didn't even get the chance to control her pheromones.
Mark grinned when he felt how much she was affected.
"Just tell me if you want to stop by your dorm first to change; I'll wait for you."
"Yeah," the omega cleared her throat and forced a normal smile. "Thanks. I'll head back to my seat now."
