That Sunday was a nice, relaxing, do-nothing kind of day. We spent the entire day split between the cottage and the lake. After breakfast, I spent the rest of the morning in the backyard, doing a bit of reading and a bit of drawing until my mom came out to call me in around 11:30am to help her prepare lunch. I made the salad, while my mom cooked the pasta to mix with the tomato sauce she had made earlier. In an Italian family, Sunday lunch must almost always consist of pasta and a salad, or meat depending on personal preference. Around 2pm, we went to take the boat out on the lake. We don't really like to use the motor unless we absolutely have to. We prefer to let nature guide us. It was a beautiful day, perfect to be out on the boat. There was a slight breeze, so it wasn't too hot and even though the sun was out, the trees that grew along the lake leaned over, creating shade where we could just anchor the boat and relax. We spent that entire afternoon on the lake, just relaxing, reading, listening to some music, and listening to the local birds sing their summer songs. We made sure to be back in time to prepare supper. Sometimes we bring lunch or supper with us and eat on the boat, but that day, my parents decided to eat at the cottage. I was enjoying the afternoon so much, just sitting in the boat and letting the lake and nature relax me, I didn't want to go back. I could have stayed until the sun started to go down.
That evening, I found myself thinking about the day ahead. I thought to myself, 'I had spent the whole day able to not think about tomorrow, and NOW my brain decides to worry about it! Now that I have to go to bed in a few hours?' To get my mind off it, I suggested we watch a movie.
"That's a great idea!" My dad seemed very excited to watch a movie. "I was thinking the same thing! What do you girls want to watch?"
I suggested Hotel Transylvania (Yes, I love that movie and I'm not ashamed to admit it). My sister was 100% on board since she also loved it. So, we made some popcorn, as we usually do when we watch a movie, sat in the living room and enjoyed some light-hearted laughs before bed. That movie makes us laugh each time, which is why I don't get tired of watching it. Plus, it definitely helped to take my mind off of Monday, even for a couple of hours.
That night, I had the same dream I had a few weeks ago. I was in the 1800s, just out for a walk. Horse-drawn carriages and pedestrians filled the streets, friends walked together, laughing and sharing stories, while children played simple games in the local park. Everyone was out enjoying the day. No cell phones to take their attention away, no cars causing traffic. Every detail was just like the last time. When I woke-up from that dream, it was the middle of the night, (about 2am when I looked at the clock on my night table) I knew it had to be the anticipation of the day ahead.
I did think about doing some research, but where would I start? What would I even search? 'Watch takes woman back in time', or maybe 'Mysterious alley leads to citizens' disappearance'? Oh, how about 'Woman claims her watch lets her time travel'? I know right? They all sound ridiculous to even think about searching. Well, luckily, I was way too tired to grab my computer and start searching at 2am.
