We started to arrive at the Fire Nation islands. It felt good to be back in my home country.
"I think I see a cave below."
Sokka shushed him, "Keep quiet."
Aang got rid of our cloud disguise as Appa landed. Sokka immediately jumped off, leaning against a rock and looking around for 'enemies'.
"Great job with the cloud camo but next time let's disguise ourselves as the kind of cloud who knows how to keep its mouth shut."
We all got down and joined him.
"Yeah wouldn't want a bird to hear us chatting up there and turn us in." Toph said sarcastically.
Sokka turned to her, "Hey! We're in enemy territory. Those are enemy birds."
Though it hurt to hear my home country be described as enemy territory, i couldn't help but laugh at the bird who plopped down onto Sokka's head.
"No, they're not." I came forward, picking up the one from Sokka's head and cooing at it, "They're toucan puffins. Who's a good bird?"
He squawked at me.
"Yes, you are."
Sokka looked at me weirdly but I just stuck my tongue out at him. Nalo started to get jealous of the attention I was giving the bird and jumped onto my back, getting ready to lunge at the bird but I caught him just in time. The toucan puffin flew back to his friends while I stroked Nalo to give him the attention he so desperately craved.
We went inside our cave, checking out our surroundings.
"Well, this is it!" Sokka announced, "This is how we'll be living until the invasion begins. Hiding in cave after cave...after cave..after cave..."
"Sokka, we don't need to become cave people." Katara talked some sense into her brother, "What we need is some new clothes."
"About that." Everyone turned to me while I awkwardly fiddled with my fingers, Nalo perched on my shoulder, "It's just, the Fire Nation has a very distinct fashion style and your clothes make it blatantly obvious you're not from here. If you want to blend in, you may need to dress more...Fire Nation."
Aang held a hand to his chin, "If we get Fire Nation disguises, we'll be just as safe as we would hiding in a cave."
"Plus they have real food out there." Toph pointed out from her seat on the ground. "Does anyone sit in the dirt and eat cave hoppers?"
She punched the wall which made a bunch of the little creatures come out of hiding. Nalo immediately rushed to go eat them and started fighting with Momo over them.
"Real good food. If there's one thing I missed after going on the run, it was Fire Nation food. It's so good. Oh and the fashion is lovely too. I can't wait to show you how some people dress here. Silk robes in all shades of red. They look amazing! I miss all the fancy galas I used to go to, getting all dressed up and dancing." I gushed about my home country, eventually stopping and blushing out of embarrassment when I realised what I was doing, "Er, sorry."
Sokka waved his hand, "Fine. You win. Let's get some new clothes."
"Yes!" I cheered.
Close by was a house with a load of laundry out on the line over some natural steam vents.
"I don't know about this. These clothes belong to somebody." Aang debated himseld.
Katara seemed to have no such quarrels, "I call the silk robe!"
"But if it's essential to our survival...then I call the suit!" Aang jumped up and raced after her.
Everyone went about grabbing stuff. Every now and then I'd have to put back stuff that wouldn't match or male clothing Toph and Katara had picked up or female clothing the boys had found. Sokka seemed to be stuck on what to wear so I grabbed a tunic and held it against him. Deciding it would look good, I threw it on his head for him to take, then moved on to helping Toph find matching clothes, since she seemed to be struggling. No sight after all.
