Diana's POV
I look in the mirror and smile, content with how I look in the blue gown I was wearing. It had a low back, as well as a low neck that reached down to my mid-chest, displaying a bit of cleavage. The dress reaches down to my ankles, but you can still see the front of my two-inch blue strap heels.
There was a work event me and Alex had to attend to tonight. Thankfully, it's being held in the city, only twenty minutes away, so we don't have to travel far.
Checking my phone, I see a text from Alex saying he's outside. With one last glance in the mirror, I walk out of my room.
I pass Casey's closed bedroom door, and stop, knocking on the door twice. "Casey I'm going out now," I tell him, and the only response I get is a quiet 'okay', causing me to frown.
Casey's been staying locked in his bedroom for nearly a week now. I haven't seen his face in days, nor have I even heard him leave his room.
I ask if he's okay, and get the same two-word response every time; 'I'm fine'.
I'm quite worried about him, but he won't tell me what's wrong so I cant help. He won't even open the door so I can see if he's okay.
"You sure you're okay?" I ask through the door. "Fine" He answers, and I sigh. Since there's nothing I can do with him refusing to talk to me, I walk down the stairs and out the front door, locking it behind me.
A car I've never seen before is parked outside, but I know it's Alex since it looks like it costs more than my house.
I've noticed Alex has a lot of cars, each one looking as expensive as the last.
Opening the passenger door, I get inside and close the car door, grateful that it's nice and warm inside since it's freezing outside.
"Hey," I smile as I turn to face Alex and see him already staring at me. His eyes are on my body, taking in my appearance.
I blush slightly, and his eyes finally land back on mine. "Fuck" He mumbles, looking me up and down again.
"Alex" I giggle. I've never fucking giggled before but I do at this moment since he seems to be struggling. He lets out a groan, looking away from me and staring at the road.
"Put your seatbelt on" Alex mumbles. "You okay?" I chuckle, very amused. "I need a minute" He mutters and I laugh before leaning over and kissing his cheek.
He turns to face me as I sit back in my seat, putting my seatbelt on easily. Alex lets out a sigh before he starts the car and begins driving. "This is cruel" I hear him mumble under his breath, and I turn and look out my window so he doesn't see me silently laughing.
*****
It took us over half an hour to get there due to traffic. When we got there, Alex handed the car keys to a valet, before linking arms with me. We walk up a load of steps leading up to the mansion it was being held at. Following a red carpet laid down on the floor, we make it to a big open ballroom, filled with men and women all dressed in fine clothes.
I look around amazed.
There were massive paintings hung on the walls. A big crystal chandelier hung from the ceiling in the middle, four smaller ones hung from each corner of the room.
The sound of chatter drowned out the low classic music that was playing. A dozen workers dressed in all black walked around holding trays of champagne.
I hear Alex chuckles, and I turn to see him staring at me with a smile.
"Sorry. I'm not used to the land of the rich yet" I mumble as we walk further into the ballroom. "You will be soon," Alex tells me. I turn to him and see him looking around the room, no doubt checking who's here.
