Chapter 156: Waiting for Judgement Day

Crowley was blind again, and didn't care.

One day, and soon, he'd be back to himself. He'd have to be, once they left this place. And tonight, they were all raucously saying good bye, not so much to the old year, but to the fucking dumpster fire of an ordeal the last part had been.

They won. For now.

So, everyone got stupid, everyone let loose, and no one saw this coming in a million years, the angel wrestled Shadwell, and won.

Crowley fell back into the ruckus, freeing himself for a time. Trying to act normal. Still. Dunno. He felt like something was waiting for him after the stroke of midnight.

When it did fall, horrid drunk singing erupted. Smiles and cheers and terrible jokes. 12:30 came and the household drifted off one at a time, or in Gary and Olivia's case, two at a time, to their respective resting spots. The dawn would bring goodbyes and the old routines, thankfully. But that was tomorrow.

Aziraphale, steeped in the bourbon he claimed such distaste for, forlornly looked at the mess in the kitchen, and the living room. Crowley wandered in with his walking stick, and found his eyes.

"I'll get this."

"You're sure?"

"Go to bed. A few snaps and its done."

The angel grinned lazily, then turned around his hands on his face," But oh! Will you be coming to bed?"

"Long after you're asleep, I'm afraid," he admitted, kissing the top of his head. "We'll have time to play later."

"Perhaps you're right. I am a bit tipsy."

"Join the club."

Aziraphale thanked him again. Crowley took him home and put him under the sheets, then when he heard snoring made his way back. The burn of the horseshoe seemed less notable tonight. He made quick work of the kitchen, and sat down in the living room on the couch with his cane held between he wide spread legs.

And he waited.

Soon enough he smelled the turned dirt and apple scent of Adam's shoes, and a few more familiar odors

"Welcome, nephew," he smiled. "And the rest of you. I'm ready for your judgement."
