Hi there! Before this chapter begins, I have a few announcements. This will be the last 'official' chapter for this story. I did mention that there would be 20 not 19, but I wanted the very last chapter to be a personal thank you to everyone who has followed this story. I also wanted to mention that after this story concludes, the complete lore of this story will commence, although I have no idea how long it'll be let alone how long it'll take. I also have two more things in mind, one of them being an incorrect quotes complication and the other will be a new book which I want to draw the cover for.
Another thing I want to mention, is that this final chapter might be short due to the ending being a little...unexpected. Thank you all for being patient.
With that said, enjoy the last chapter of devils meadow. Thanks for being here, H.

So this is it. How my second life ends. A bit unexpected, I wish it lasted longer but all things come to an end eventually. But if I knew that I could've changed that outcome, I would've taken that chance without hesitation.

"HUNTER!"
Without thinking, Blaze killed the soldiers surrounding my body. As I knelt on my knees, he ran forwards, trying to save my live for the hundredth time since I met him, but he was blocked by more hunters with their spears drawn.
"Don't be so upset. He did this to himself. It's a shame you all didn't listen to me, otherwise we could've avoided all of...this."
"So that's it then. You kill for fun and you stay in power!?"
"One way or another. You're smart. When the king said to me, get my trident back one way or another, I took that as an opportunity."
"You'll pay for this."
"Oh. I don't think I will. Get them."
"Misha, back up!"
I could hear muffled screaming and shouting, Arda had me knelt under his feet making me watch, but i couldn't see anything, my vision had subsided. I heard Blaze shouting my name, followed by Misha telling him to move away, but he sounded as if he was coming closer towards me and Jimenez completely ignoring Misha's warnings not to engage. I had just about enough strength left in me to open my eyes, but my vision was so bad that I had to close them again. The prongs crackled and hurt my heart and lungs, and I found it difficult to breathe. As I sat there with Arda, I could overhear Misha tell Blaze something that I know what was best of them to do.
"Blaze we have to get out of here!"
"I'm not leaving without Hunter."
"I'm not getting you killed too. Im sorry but there's nothing we can do."
"..."
"I'm sorry."
Thanks for everything....B.
That was the last thing I heard. Arda had successfully finished what the king started, but he never brought back the weapon. It remained stuck in my chest, a reminder of what happened during the battle, a reminder that actions have consequences. With my blood dripping down my chest, I remained still and quiet, with my eyes shut. But I never forgot what Jimenez said. "We hide things for a reason. But you'll find out when the time is right."
There comes a time in everyone's life, where an old door will shut leaving one to a new beginning. One day the lock to both doors will open leaving the dead and the leaving at peace, where the brave shall live forever.
