La'llia moaned at the ache in her muscles and rolled to her side, reaching for Christian but when her hand met air she shot up into an upright position on her bed. She shook her head to displace the mixed thoughts and cobwebs that were making her thoughts muddied. The panic she had felt only moments earlier faded away into guilt and anxiety as she recalled the events that led to her current state.
Everything had seemed to move in slow motion for La'llia as she watched Christian move towards her. Damien stood behind him leaning heavily on one leg. She felt the air crackle with unspent energy again and Damien fisted his hand and threw it backwards. The action seemed to sweep Christian up and threw him up over his head towards the pond until he landed in the water. "Christian! No!" She twisted under Bane and pushed her hand towards the ground, using her radiant heat she focused her energy and pushed herself up. She clenched her fists and bright white flames danced on her hands. She called up the roots from the ground and opened a fissure beneath Bane's feet. The roots wrapped themselves around his feet and drew them together. As he fell forward she closed the earth around his legs firmly holding him in place. I am so sorry Lia...so sorry. I love you. Fear gripped her chest and threatened to steal her breath. Christian! Don't you dare! I'm coming...please hang on!
"Alfred! Christian...go to him...Hurry!" She pleaded. She advanced again towards Bane and brought forward more roots to twist around his arms and torso. He was desperately trying to free himself, clawing, ripping and burning away the smaller weaker ones, but his struggling finally stopped when he was thoroughly encased and his legs firmly trapped beneath the surface if the ground. She ground her teeth together and stood over him, her arms on fire. "If he dies you will wish I had ended your life." She warned, but then heard a moan come from Victoria's direction. She turned and swiftly encased her in a tomb of roots and vines as well before sprinting towards the pond. Shane was pulling Christian out just as she arrived and Shane's men had Damien detained. She dropped to her knees next to him calling his name. "Cut the damn bindings lose!" She yelled. Shane had quickly pulled a knife and done as she had requested. "Where is your Water elemental Alfred?!" She asked as she began to take Christians vital signs. No pulse...not breathing...God help me, she thought. He couldn't have been under for that long could he? Alfred had pushed her aside to allow his Water elemental to do her work unhindered.
"Save him..." She whispered. From a few feet away she heard a hard snicker from Damien. Shane had him pushed to the ground to sit as another of his team was assessing his leg. His hands were bound behind his back much the same way Christian's had been and she caught his gaze and locked her eyes with his. As she rose from her position next to Christian she could see the hatred flicker to fear quickly within them. She had moved the distance between them before anyone could stop her and raised her boot and planted it square across Damien's nose. He cried out and fell to his side, but not before La'llia had released the dagger held at her back and had it pressed beneath his jaw. La'llia placed her knee in the center of his chest and leaned into him, placing pressure on his throat and his chest. He squeaked a cry out and she saw blood pouring from the gash to his now broken nose. "What. Did. You. Do?" His whimper did not please her as she pressed further into his neck, and she barley felt Shane's men trying to pull her off from him. She let her entire body fill with her emotions, causing it to build with heat and her limbs became heavy. "What did you do to him?!" She screamed, leaning and placing her face within inches of his.
Damien coughed, spit some blood from his mouth and finally answered, his voice raspy from the edge of the blade against his throat. "I pu...pulled the air from his lu...lungs before throwing him into the water..." The breath she had been holding expelled through her clenched teeth. She released the hold she had on his throat, quickly sheathing her dagger, and raised her boot once more. The blow this time landed across his temple, efficiently knocking him out.
