"I have to tell him Alfred."
"The Eternal Code is clear in its rules La'llia. Eternals are not to interfere with the transition of another. It hinders the process and he may not come to full power."
"I am not saying we should interfere with the process Alfred. Christian should know what is coming, including the dangers. They aren't pulling any punches. If they are willing to expose themselves he will know more than he knows now anyway. I think it would be better overall if he knows what I am, what we are, and prepare him for this clan. I can't protect him if I don't give him a reason to expect the danger."
Alfred sighed. "Sam will be joining us in Virginia to help you with your new abilities."
"You're changing the subject."
"I cannot condone you telling Christian anything more than what you are La'llia, but only if you are engaged in a personal relationship with him. Are you telling me this is the case?"
"Yes, I want more than a friendship, but only time will tell if that's even possible. If I continue to hold back from him now it will only hurt our chances at a future."
"Are his feelings the same?"
"He says he trusts me. We haven't discussed a relationship, but we have only known each other for a few days. He told me today he is becoming emotionally connected."
There was a long pause before he responded. "Okay, tell him what you are. Be vague as to the reasons that the others are seeking him. When I come into town with Sam we will all sit down and evaluate how well he is handling the first part of this conversation. If we can tell him without interfering with his process then we will, but nothing more."
"Thank you Alfred, when is your flight coming in?"
"I will be arriving early and Sam will be coming in late. He has to get one of his Prime's to take over his students. This will have to serve two purposes. First and foremost to train you, and secondly to make sure Christian is unharmed in this and his transition is smooth."
"Okay, it's getting late here and Christian is probably running out of patience. I need to go talk to him."
"Good night La'llia. I will see you in the morning."
She hung up the phone with a feeling of dread. What if he couldn't accept what they were? He seemed reasonable enough, but the connection she felt with him could be lost forever if he didn't. She quickly showered and changed into a pair of jeans and a T-shirt and made her way to meet him in her office. As she approached the door she noticed he was intensely typing away at his new laptop.
She approached the desk and walked around his chair, running her hands across his shoulders, loving the feel of the strength he had. "Hey there. Getting some work done?"
He looked up over his shoulder at her with a smile. "This is the best gift I have ever received. Thank you so much. I feel inspired already. Getting used to the software was a little tough at first, but I think I've got the hang of it."
"Well I am glad you are enjoying it Christian." She paused for a moment and he read her face. "Are you ready to have that chat?"
"Before we do, I need to do one thing." He grasped her hand and tugged her around until she sat across his lap in the office chair. One arm slid around her waist, while the other gripped her hip, holding her firmly in place. "Have I told you how amazing you are today?" She smiled. "You are. Amazing. Beautiful. Intelligent. Incredible. Everything I have ever wanted." He kissed her then. Soft butterfly kisses across her lips until he settled over her lips, gently nipping on her lower lip. "Amazing." He said one more time.
