Wait For The Climax

By the end of the evening, the empress had already finished everything he needed to welcome the two new concubines. To welcome a concubine did not really take a lot of work but because the empress was pregnant he got tired very quickly, plus he was also planning for the Spring Festival next week so he was even more worn out. Tired and exhausted, he dragged his body to bed. 

The following day the empress woke up very early to dress and do his makeup. He was to welcome concubines so he had to dress his best today to show them that the empress may be unfavored but he was still as powerful as ever. 

Since the empress is pregnant his face and body have gotten chubbier, and he was more on the gentle and cute side than the sharp and vicious side, plus his whole aura was that of a mother, it was warm and gentle. So as of lately, the empress wore more loose and light-colored clothes, hence he appeared more and more like a benevolent empress.

The hanfu he was wearing today was a creation of his own design and was a light purple color. He appeared to be a goddess because the hanfu was so lovely on its own and since the empress was also very attractive it made him look ethereal. The maids couldn't help but fall into a trance looking at the empress. 

His blue eyes glistened like diamonds, and his snow-white hair dropped over the light purple hanfu, providing a lovely contrast. His soft, lilac-colored, saccharine-like lips complemented his lustrous, light complexion to an exquisite degree. The empress was gorgeous overall, and his pregnancy had no negative effect on his appearance. 

After putting on some accessories the empress was ready to go. The empress could barely walk now so he had to use Li Dani as support to go outside to take the palanquin. The empress himself didn't want to use a palanquin but he could barely walk, but he did find an alternative to make the work lighter for the palanquin carriers. He had the resource department make a small palanquin with wheels and the eunuch just had to pull. At first, he wanted to just have a horse do the work, but the resource department showed that there was too much of a risk doing that so he could just comply. The eunuchs were super grateful for the empress's thoughtfulness and were always eager to work for him.

So when they saw the empress coming to the palanquin, they were at first dazed by his beauty but then were brought back to reality by Li Dani who cleared his throat. Without any further thoughts, they hurried and greeted the empress. After the empress accepted their greetings, he got into the palanquin and made his way to Guozhi Hall. The road from the empress's palace to Guozhi hall took about twenty minutes. As soon as the empress got off the carriage he rewarded each eunuch with two taels of silver, and with that, the eunuch was even more eager to serve the empress. 

Standing in front of Guozhi hall, the empress took a deep breath. This was the hall where he married, where he suffered, where he was humiliated, and where he was banished to the cold palace. This is where his misery started without a break. He had more horrible memories in this hall than good ones so he was pretty nervous, but he hid it quite well. He didn't want to show his weakness here, in front of the new concubines. He had been slowly forgetting about his past misery, he had started to be happy, he had started loving himself, so he could only move forward now not backward. With that mindset, he finally took a step in.

"The empress has arrived!" A eunuch announced the moment he saw the empress entering. 

"We greet his majesty! May the empress live for ten thousand years, and ten thousand more!" The people in the hall immediately kowtowed and greeted. 

"You may rise!" The empress ordered as he made his way to his throne.

The hall was not as full today compared to other occasions. Since the emperor was welcoming two more concubines only his subordinates that actually work in court, the concubines' families, and the other harem members' families' could come. It was to both support their daughters and to show their backing. But without a doubt, the empress's family was the most respectful and powerful. They were all sitting in the hall looking mighty, and powerful. Their auras alone were enough to scare some people. Some people couldn't help but give up on the idea of making their daughters the empress seeing the family like this.

The two concubines who were about to enter the harem were both worried and excited. At first, they were very eager to enter the harem knowing that the empress was both stupid and unfavored. They could easily get favor because of this, but they were quickly slapped back to reality after learning that the empress went through some major changes. Plus both the empress and Virtuous Lady Ju were pregnant so they were even more worried. If they didn't birth a child almost as soon as they enter the harem they may be unfavored for life, plus they heard of how the empress cleaned of Official Lady Lifen, it was like a warning to them, so they were even more scared.

Now seeing the beautiful empress sitting majestically on his throne, they couldn't help but have a little regret about their past attitudes towards him. If they were more courteous maybe their futures in the harem would not have so many bumps. They knew that every single one of these ladies were vicious with little compassion, so how could they not be scared, but they had to put on a brave face in order not to become an early prey. So they continued to enjoy the banquet until the climax.
