Raed and Draven exited the police station and sat in the car. Raed still couldn't believe what just happened, so he searched on his phone for the video, hoping he had imagined that whole interaction with the officer.
"He really deleted it! I can't believe this!" he exclaimed, still scrolling on his phone.
"Do you know why he did that?" Draven asked.
"No, but by your tone I have a feeling that you know why," Raed retorted in a bad mood.
"Euston, like many other places around the world, is run by vampires, either directly or indirectly. It's a shame, but it is what it is," Draven said.
"If you knew that, why did you let me go in there and make a fool of myself?" Raed asked.
"Because you have been doubting me all night. I wanted you to see for yourself. It wasn't even that bad," Draven replied.
"It wasn't even that bad?! He deleted my video! I was supposed to submit this to the university! Now I have nothing!" Raed exclaimed, upset.
"Not nothing. You still have your grades," Draven said, and Raed glared at him.
"You've seen my grades..."
"Oh... Yeah, they are not great," Draven said bluntly, and Raed sighed defeated. "Why do you even want to be an investigator? Is it just because of the 'Mission Impossible' theme song?" Draven asked.
"Well, part of it. It's really cool. I can see myself doing missions while having that music in my head. But also... Never mind," Raed said.
"What?" Draven asked and Raed shook his head. "But also what?"
"I said never mind. You'll think I'm a pussy if I say it."
"Is it because of your father?" Draven speculated and Raed stared at him for a moment.
"How do you know? Are you sure you are not able to read minds?"
"I told you vampires can't read minds. It's not even that hard to guess, to be honest. I mean your father is in a wheelchair. Something must have happened to him," Draven said.
"Yes, he was in an accident because of some stupid idiot. That guy was never found. If I was an investigator, I could track him and people like him down and bring them to justice. It's... kind of lame," Raed said, looking at the street outside to hide his embarrassment.
"It's not lame."
"Whatever. Wanna go to the pink house with me?" Raed asked.
Draven was visibly taken aback by his question. "What... what do you mean?" he stuttered.
"Don't you want to visit Rosaline?" Raed smirked and Draven glared at him.
"Kid, don't play around," Draven said, but it did not sound threatening at all and Raed just laughed. "And don't laugh! The only question here is, where do you want to go?"
Raed did not answer for a while. There was only one answer for him and that was to go back to Draven's house. He couldn't go back to the pink house without any news, but mainly he couldn't go back without knowing who hypnotized his parents.
"If we go back, you will meet the other guys," said Draven. From Draven's tone, Raed was not sure if it was a good or bad thing.
"Do I know anyone else? I already knew you and your siblings. Is there anyone else that I know?" Raed asked.
