The west wing of the house was only for Sephtis. The door to access that side was always locked, only Sephtis had the keys to it. It contrasted with the rest of the house, since it hadn't been modernized and instead of wood, brick and glass, there was stone everywhere. The walls and the floor were of black marble, which made it incredibly cold even by vampire standards. As Raed and Draven walked through the corridor in silence, Raed kept glancing at his friend. He was nervous, he knew he was about to listen to a good scolding. However, Raed was not in the mood to listen to some guy he met less than an hour ago. Frankly, he did not see Sephtis as his leader at all, he didn't even see himself as part of that clan. The only reason he was in it was to find out who hypnotized his parents to make that person break the curse. Raed was not sure what to do with the rest of his immortal life, but he wanted to spend the following decades next to his family and make the best of it, before they were gone. He heard the Black Moon clan had an aging potion, which made vampires look older to fool humans. He was thinking about taking it, so his parents wouldn't suspect of his new condition or maybe he would just tell them the truth and hope they would accept him for what he was. The only thing he was unsure about was the fact that he had to belong to a clan. But... did he really? From what he had seen so far, he felt like he couldn't fully trust anyone. From what he understood, both clans just looked like they were using him to spy on each other. Ravi said the world was dangerous for rogue vampires, but the truth was life was always dangerous.

"Sit," Sephtis ordered as they entered his office. The office was beyond spacious and it almost looked like a library. It had a sitting area with dark brown leather couches facing a large dark fireplace with gargoyles on each side. There were bookshelves filled with books to the ceiling on both sides and, finally there was a large wooden desk where Sephtis was sitting at.

They did as Sephtis ordered and sat on the leather chairs in front of the desk. "Fa..." Draven started saying, before being interrupted.

"Before you say anything, shall I remind you that you are the heir of this clan? If anything happens to me, you're the one in charge. Did you forget about that?" Sephtis asked.

"I know and must I remind you that I did not ask for that? Dabria would be more than thrilled to be the heir and she would serve you well," Draven replied.

"Dabria is... too unpredictable to take care of our business. She is already nine hundred years old and she can still barely control herself. How could she control anything else?" Sephtis argued.

"Maybe one of the others could..."

"Be quiet! I made you the heir and that is my final decision. Do you know what that means? It means I expect the very best from you and instead I find you in some... rubbish site... doing a girl. A Black Moon girl!" Sephtis yelled and Draven just lowered his head, defeated.

"I'm sorry to interrupt, but what is so wrong about that?" asked Raed.

Sephtis frowned at him. "I don't even know you, but I already cannot stand you. Did you not tell him why we don't want any type of closeness with them?" he asked Draven and he just shook his head. "Why not? Is it because deep down you're on their side?"

"I just think it would be beneficial for us to make an alliance with them," Draven replied.

"Beneficial to whom? Your genitals?" Sephtis retorted and Draven turned his head, rolling his eyes.

"After all, what happened?" Raed asked.

"Since no one told you this, I am going to tell you, boy. Regia, Ravi and Roesia were my first underlings. I was the one who turned them, trained and taught them everything I knew. They were the first ones to belong to my newly formed clan. We were together for a couple of hundred years, until they decided they didn't need me anymore and left the clan to form their own. They also started a business, as you know, and their business hurts ours. They are traitors. They are not trustworthy. They will just use you and throw you away, when they don't need you anymore, without any remorse or pity," Sephtis explained.
