After leaving Sailor at her house I head across town to the gym to meet with the guys I'll be rafting with in Nepal. We work out together for an hour and then end up grabbing dinner and a few beers in Southeast Portland.

I spend much of the evening feeling like my head is in the clouds, eventually my buddy Paul called me on it. We were sitting around drinking beers and talking about our trip.

"Tahoe, man it's like you aren't even here. Where have you been all night?" Paul asks.

"Sorry! I'm super distracted, lame I know."

"Let me guess, a woman?" asks Paul.

"Yah man, what can I say."

"What's she like?" he asks.

"She is the sexiest woman I've ever met, so smart. She's an accountant and very serious about her career. She isn't even interested in dating; I've been chasing her a bit to just get her willing to hang out with me. Today I got her to hang out a bit as friends but I'm trying to keep the door open and not be friend zoned," I admit.

"Wow, this is a first. I've never known you to chase a woman before. She must be something special. Where did you meet her?"

"Tinder of all places, how unlikely is that. I met up with her for a potential hook up and fifteen minutes into talking she got up and took off without so much as giving me her number."

"Why?"

"Supposedly she was more attracted to me than she expected, and she doesn't like her feelings to make decisions for her."

"I ran into her another time and found out where she worked and sent her flowers until she agreed to go out with me."

"You're crazy man. All that because she took off after meeting you?"

"Na man, she's special. Not like other women. I think there is something there."

"So, what are you going to do about it?" Paul asks.

"I don't know. I guess I need to just try to keep it light, so I don't scare her off. Maybe try to stay close so that she doesn't disappear on me. I think."

"Are you sleeping together?"

"We have but it did not end well. She freaked out and took off afterwards. That sucked! Thankfully I ran into her again and now she is at least texting with me and we've gone on a hike."

"Wow, I'd be distracted too. That sounds like a ton of work, you must be really into her to dish out that much effort," Paul says.

"Yup, and I'm afraid I'm going to fuck it up or the trip to Nepal will give her just enough time to create space from me and I'll lose my shot."

"I'm sure you'll win her over, after all you've got that face." he jokes. Paul has always teased me about having a pretty boy face. I'm not sure why he thinks it is so funny, but I just go with it.

"Whatever man."

I didn't stay much longer after that. They guys were all talking about what they had to do to get ready and I was tired.
