"This feels like summer"
"Marina, did you lock the door?" My dad asked me from the end of the gate where my mom and dad were waiting. "Si pa," I said laughing as I walk towards them. We start to walk down the road where my cousins live. I held on to my dad's arm because I was nervous. I hadn't seen my cousins ever since we moved away and that's when my dad's business first took off. Keep in mind I was 7 years old at the time so it's been a long time since I've seen them.
We finally arrive at the house. It was only a few houses down, so it wasn't a long walk. We step up to the front door, and my mom knocks on the door. And Finney opens the door.
Finneys pov "Finney please get the door" my dad yells at me from the kitchen where he was helping Gwen with her homework. I'm a little suspicious my dad has been acting weird today overly excited and happy. I just brushed it off caused my dad can be a bit of an odd cookie. I got up and headed towards the door and reached to open it as soon as I open it-
"Surprise!!!" I was greeted by them yelling I was in shock. "MARIANNA!" I've never hugged someone so fast. "I've missed you so much," I said while squeezing the life out of her. "I promised you, I would come back"

Flashback...
I watched marina put her bag into a car in our driveway. "Marina where are you going?" I grabbed her hand "me tengo que ir Finney..." she looked at me with puffy eyes "where to? Why can't you just stay!" I didn't understand why she was leaving me. "California Finney... Papi got a new job... and we are moving there" "Does that mean I'll never see you again?" Tears in my eyes, even if I was young I understood it was going to hurt not having her with me every day. "Claro que no! I'll come back to visit" She stares at me.
"Cariño ya nos Tenemos que ir dile adiós a Finney"
Marina looks at my aunt and nods. "Adios Finney" and marina pulls me into a hug "bye marina" as she pulls out of the hug she whispers in my ear
"Promise I'll come back"
And she turned around and walked away into her car. And I watched her drive away....
Back to the present time
I hug my aunt and my uncle and I welcome them inside. We walk into the kitchen and marina still has her arm around me.
"GWENNY!!!!!" Marina shouts out, and Gwenny looks up from her papers. "MARIANNA!" Gwen got up from the table running into marinas arms. "Look how big you are now! You were so small last I saw you" Marianna said as she ruffled Gwen's hair. "She's big? look at you! marina you are so big now" my dad said looking at Marianna. "Nice to see you too tio" she smiled and she went to go hug him.
I have a good feeling about this.
A/n btw marinas/Mariannas mom is fully Mexican and her dad is white who is also finneys dads Brother.
