A/N This is Malec's first kiss.

After the time at the Pandemonium, when Alec ran into Magnus and when Izzy and Jace saw them together, Alec was always being cornered by either one of them, asking him whether he had spoken to Magnus again.

And truth be told, he had wanted to. But didn't know when or how that would happen again.

Conviniently, fate had it that Magnus would knock up at the Institute just two days later, and that Alec was tasked with answering the door.

"Magnus," Alec smiled when he saw who was at the door.

"Hello, Alexander," Magnus said, "How are we?"

"Um, great, you?"

"Better as you are the one who opened the door."

Alec blushed.

"Well, are you going to invite me in?" Magnus asked.

"Of - of course," Alec said, and held the door open for Magnus, "And is there a um particular reason you're here?"

"Yeah, I was called to fix some wards," Magnus answered as they walked towards the main wards area.

"A High Warlock to fix wards?" Alec seemed sceptical.

"Closest warlock at disposal," Magnus said a little too harshly.

"Magnus, you're more than just a tool to use when we want," Alec said without thinking, and Magnus was genuinely taken aback by how Alec seemed to mean the words. And his tone suggested that was his opinion on all of the Downworld. That they were more than tools.

"Huh," Magnus sighed, "You're quite different, aren't you?"

"Excuse me?"

"No Nephilim ever thinks that way," Magnus explained.

"I know, it's not great," Alec rubbed his neck, "But yes. You're not just a disposable tool. Neither are you or any of your people. Or any of the Downworld for that matter."

"Alexander," Magnus grinned, "You're surprising in the best best of ways."

Alec blushed more and then stuttered, "Ah um it's... it's - "

Alec was saved at the arrival of Isabelle.

"Fixed up the wards?" she asked, yet again with that knowing smile.

"Not yet," Magnus flashed her a smile, "Got slightly distraced talking."

"I can tell."

"Are you two siblings by the way?" Magnus questioned and they nodded.

"Your Lightwood genetics has changed down the line," Magnus commented, "I remember green-eyed monsters. Not blue eyes or black eyes."

"Weird," Izzy said, "I can't remember anyone in the family with green eyes."

"This was a while ago," Magnus justified.

"Anyway," Izzy said, "Mum sent me to ask how my payment you'd want for fixing the wards."

"I'll let this one pass," Magnus said after a moment of debate, his eyes lingering on Alec, "I've recieved better things than money in this visit."

"I completely understand," Izzy smirked and sauntered off, leaving Alec with that feeling: afraid of the hope. Hope that there was something in the gaze Magnus gave him.

"This wards business will take a while," Magnus said after both Magnus and Alec stood staring at the other, hoping, and afraid of the hope, "And I can escort myself out. Thank you for your company, Alexander. It's been lovely."
