Chapter 24

       Alex's POV

I was relieved that Izzy was awake and not dying or anything, but being in the hospital made me uncomfortable and brought back bad memories.

I glanced at Niall, who looked terribly sad. I looked down before getting up and sitting down carefully beside him. He looked up and looked a bit surprised to find me by him.

"Hi." I said softly.

"Hey." He replied, just as quiet as me. I looked in his eyes. I felt bad for avoiding him. I knew I needed to tell him what happened if we were to be in an honest relationship.

"Let's go get some food." I said. I stood up and reached my hand out to him. He took my hand and stood up. We told the guys where we were going and we drove down to McDonalds.

We ordered and I lead us outside. We sat in the car and started eating. I sighed after swallowing some fries.

"It was two years ago....." I began quietly. Niall seemed to understand I was finally opening up so he paid close attention.

Niall's POV

I was glad she had finally opened up to me.m, but her story was heart wrenching. What those guys did to Izzy and herself. It was hard to listen to. What kind of guys cheat on their girlfriends? And what kind of guy says "I love you" to a girl and not only cheats on her but yells and hits her? I hated the fact that a stupid bastard had driven those girls to harm themselves.

"Babe. I'm so sorry." I whispered to Alex. I held her in my arms and kissed her tears away.

"It's ok. I've got you now." She said. I rested my chin on her head.

"Alex, love. I'm sorry for earlier." I said. She sat up and turned to face me.

"It's ok, Ni. I know you just wanted to help me." She said, gently kissing my lips.

We finished eating our food and she made an effort to lighten the mood, but I could tell she was still worried about Izzy.

Her phone rang and she answered it.

"Hello?" Her eyebrows furrowed, which happens when she is concentrating.

"Alright. We're coming back." She replied then hung up.

"Izzy wants to talk to me..." She trailed off, a worried look on her face. I nodded and started the car, driving back to the hospital.

Alex's POV

I walked into Izzy's room and Louis walked out, closing the door.

"What's wrong?" I asked her. She looked pale and terrified. It was scaring me, honestly.

"If I lost too much blood, I have to have a blood transfusion." Her voice was shaky. My eyes widened. When we were younger, her sister, who was like my Oder sister as well, got in a car crash. She lost a lot of blood and the doctor gave her a blood transfusion. They were not careful enough and the were injecting the wrong blood type into her.

She had died. We both took that very hard, but Izzy was absolutely terrified now.

"Oh, Izzy." I said. I walked over and sat beside her bed. I shook my head. Tears spilling out.

"No. You're like my sister. I lost her. I'm not loosing you too!" I cried.

The doctor walked in and I froze.

"Ms. Marie, you're lucky. The bleeding stopped just enough so you will be fine in a few days." He said.

We both let out relived breathes and I couldn't help but smile. He walked out after checking the machines and I hugged her.

"Don't ever, ever, ever do anything like this again! I need my partner in crime." I said. She laughed and promised me.

"Pinky promise?" I asked. We hooked our pinkies in a childish promise and I laughed.

"How are you and Niall?" She asked. I explained everything that had happened and she squirmed in the bed.

"Lemme at 'im!" She demanded. I laughed and shook my head at her.

"It's ok, Iz. We got it worked out." I assured her. She nodded then she looked queasy.

Before I could ask if she was ok, she threw up in the trash can.

"Ok. Ew. You feeling alright there?" I asked. She nodded And put it back down.

"Doc said it would happen till I my blood level went up or something like that." She explained.

"Alright. Want me to send Louis back in?" I asked. She nodded and I hugged her before walking back out.

"Lou!" I called. He looked over and I motioned back to the room.

"She wants you back. Guess I'm not good looking enough." I joked. He laughed and walked back into the room.

I sat down on Niall's lap and laid my head in the crook of his neck. I ended up falling asleep before long.

A couple days later, we signed Izzy out and went back to the hotel. Then the lads realized that they were leaving for the tour again in two days.

When they told Izzy and me, we looked at each other sadly.

"Oh...." Was all I could say. I was trying to hold back tears. I should've known. Niall was going to leave and find someone better than me. Of course. Why would be really stay with me?

"We'd better go. I've got to move into Izzy's place yet so... I guess we'll see you later." I choked out. We packed our bags and got dropped off at my parents house.

We said goodbye but they said they would stop by Izzy's tomorrow.

We walked into my house and I greeted my parents. They knew I was moving in with Izzy so they had packed up my stuff for me.

We told my parents about what we'd been up to. Minus the hospital thing. As we were talking I realized my dad looked older and more frail.

I pulled my mum aside and asked her about it. She sighed and tears sprung to her eyes.

"Mum. What's going on?" I demanded. I did not want more depressing news but I could sense it coming.

"Your dad.... He's got cancer."
