"Right you lot. Less chattering. Form a group over there and open your books to page 49."
"Exactly how do we do that?" Draco
"You just stroke the spine, idiot." I say to him, I whisper the last word so only he can hear it.
Despite my comment, he just slings his arm over my shoulder and kisses my head, I fold my arms and roll my eyes as he says
"Obviously I knew that, I was just testing you."
He unslings just arm from my shoulder and gets out his book, he strokes the spine and it opens strait away, Neville though didn't have as much luck.
I knew how to stroke the spine because we had the same book back at Beauxbatons academy of magic, although they weren't spiders back there... I miss Fleur a lot, and her little sister.
"God this place has gone to the dogs, wait till my father hears they got this oaf teaching classes!" Draco said, interrupting my thoughts.
This idiot.
Harry steps forwards and says confidently "shut up, Malfoy."
Honestly, if I wasn't in a fake relationship with Draco I would slap him, wait never mind I still would, so I will.
I was satisfied with the sound that it made as my hand made contact with his face.
He looked back at me with hatred in his eyes, but then it softened as he did the worst thing imaginable, he leaned in to kiss me. BREAKING ONE OF OUR CONTRACT RULES!
Thank god Hagrid interrupted... that...
"Everyone, say hello to Buckbeak!" a huge feathered beast stepped before me. "It's... beautiful." There was no other word for it, actually wait no, there is.
It was Majestic, Gorgeous, Graceful, I could go on but it was Hagrid's first lesson teaching and I couldn't ruin that for him.
"Hagrid, exactly what is that?" Said the redhead I had recently come to despise.
"That, Ron, Is a hippogriff. First thing you want to know about hippogriffs is that they're very proud creatures. Very easily offended. You do not want to insult a hippogriff. It may just be the last thing you ever do." He paused, thinking to himself.
"Now.. who'd like to come and say hello?"
I'm stuck in my own world, still processing the 'last thing you ever do' part.
"Well done y/n, well done." Hagrid said cheerfully, it was at this moment that I noticed that all of the others have stepped back, making me look like I stepped forwards.
Cowards.
"C'mon now, now... you have to let him make the first move. It's only polite. So... you step up. Give him a nice bow..." He demonstrates "Then you wait and see if he bows back. And if he does, you can go and touch him. And if not... well, we'll get to that later."
I walk forwards hesitantly.
"Now, just make your bow." Hagrid instructs.
I bow.
"Nice and low."
Buckbeak makes an interesting noise and starts flapping its wings, squawking.
"Back off, y/n! Back off!" Hagrid says but I don't listen this time, I just bow deeper, closing my eyes and hoping I don't get mauled to death by an eagle-lion.
Buckbeak stomps it's hooves, seemingly interested in my actions, It bows. It walks closer and I reach my hand out. It nests it's nuzzle into the palm of my hand. The students clap, especially Hermione and Harry, Ron... not so much.
"Well done, y/n! Well done! I think he may let you ride him now."
"What?!" I say in shock. Hagrid picks me up.
"Hey! Hey hey hey!" I say as he places me onto the hippogriff. He smacks the butt of the magnificent creature.
Before I even know what's happening I'm in the air. Flying over trees and mountains, it's the best feeling of my life. I let go of the neck I had just grabbed onto and spread my arms out. Letting out occasional "whoooooo!"'s as the beast flew into the sky.
I run my hand over the lake as we flew over, we soared over and through the castle, reaching amazing heights.
We land back on the ground and it's Harry's turn, Buckbeak had way more trouble trusting him than me. As Harry lands, Hagrid comes over to me and asks:
"So, how was me first day?"
"It was brilliant Hagri-" I was about to finish my sentence when something, more like someone, cut me off.
"Oh please." Draco says, pushing through people to get close to the creature.
"Yes, your not dangerous at all, are you, you big ugly brute!" Malfoy says.
"Malfoy! No!" Hagrid says. The creature looms over Draco and with one big strike, manages to create a huge gash in his arm.
"It's killed me! It's killed me!" He says, rolling around on the floor while clutching his arm.
"Don't worry Malfoy, y/n'll take you to Madame Pomfrey's office, class dismissed everyone!" Hagrid says.
And I swear, as soon as everyone was looking away, Draco winked at me... that idiot.
