It was about a week when Kirstin was finally released. When Scott took us to the cabin, I noticed that his blue eyes were troubled. Scott helped Kirstin into the cabin and motioned for me to sit down. Instinctively, I snuggled in beside Kirstin, who put her arm around me and held me close. I yawned as I waited for Scott to make his announcement-slash-statement.

Scott: I talked with the police chief and have some bad news.

He hesitated as he stared at the ground. Scott was clearly struggling with this news, and I was wondering what it could be.

Kirstin: What is it, Scott?

Scott remained quiet as he knew this news would be difficult to handle. For more than just one person.

Scott: You two can't leave the property.

Me: What? For how long?

Scott: Until further notice. And...

His voice trailed off as tears filled his blue eyes. He looked away, and I sat up, but Kirstin pulled me back. She whispered: "It's okay, sweetie. But I would feel better if you stayed close to me." I nodded, then snuggled back beside her. I looked up, and then I saw her neck. My mind drifted back to when I found her. She had been beaten terribly, and a rope was drawn tightly around her neck. It looked as if they had to cut it off. I closed my eyes and shuddered. Kirstin looked down, her brown eyes filled with concern, but at the same time, they were filled with love.

Kirstin: Kailyn, what's the matter?

I buried my face in her side and grabbed onto her shirt. Kirstin put her hand on my knee, and then her brown eyes softened even more with understanding.

Kirstin: Oh sweetie, it's okay. I'm right here. Shhh. Scott, this news is not helping her at all. She's had nightmares every night since I woke up. Poor thing. She's not doing good, Scott.

Scott: Kirstin, I can't even come onto the property.

Suddenly Kirstin's brown eyes flashed with terror as she pictured being alone in an emergency. Her mind raced as she tried to comprehend how this would play out.

Kirstin: But you have to! What if there was a fire, or Kailyn got hurt?

She glanced down as a tremor swept through my exhausted body. Scott's blue eyes flashed with determination as he stood up.

Scott: I negotiated the best I could with Chief Bennet, and I concluded. I am allowed once a week.

He walked over and sat beside Kirstin. Her brown eyes were still filled with terror. Scott wrapped his arms around his friend, and she slowly calmed down. His voice was soft with care and comfort.

Scott: I would never allow that to happen. Not with Jessica still out looking to kill Kailyn.

Kirstin was quiet, and Scott looked down. His blue eyes were worried, but they softened as he saw that she was asleep. Soon, I was asleep, and Scott gently moved Kirstin to her room and me to my room. He sat on the edge of Kirstin's bed after moving me. Scott gently placed his hand on her arm.

Scott: I'm sorry that Jessica did what she did to you. I promise that I will protect you and Kailyn. I promise. I promise.

He squeezed her arm one last time before standing up and walking out of the room. Scott refused to leave until Kirstin felt comfortable enough to be left alone. Mitch called Scott as he reached the bottom of the stairs.

Scott: Hey Mitch. What's up?

Mitch: I've been thinking. What if we got a house down here?

Scott: Why would we do that?

Mitch's voice went from like a proposition to fierce protection that was only fueled by his love for Kirstin and me.

Mitch: To protect our girls.

Scott was quiet as he thought about what Mitch had just asked him. He knew that it was a good idea, and in fact, it was a brilliant idea. It would be safer for Kirstin and me if they had a house or cabin down here. That way, they wouldn't be that far away from Kirstin and me because the only time that Kirstin was going to be in L.A. was before and just after tour. The getting ready part for tour required all five members to be in the big city, but Kirstin could leave soon after they were done with the tour. I knew this after we had chatted about me joining their team on a temporary basis. Kirstin was still unsure about that, seeming as how she is protective of me. Scott encouraged her that he would make sure that I was taken care of if we did something like that, and over time, I would be promoted up to the point where it would be safe enough to tell everyone the story. It wouldn't exactly be lying, it would just be a cover until it would be safe for the secret to being shared. So far, only a few of my friends knew about my relationship. Hannah Parker, my friend that worked at Ober Gatlinburg; Leah Connor, who works at Wonder Works; Kacy Harper, who works at Disney and Kings Island; Jonathan Humphry, who works at Disney; Jeffory Murphy, who also works at Disney, and Malone Zahler, who was my only best friend until Pentatonix came along. I had one other friend that I had talked to about Pentatonix, but that was before they came into my life. He had stayed busy even though he had texted me several times to make sure that I was okay. I wonder if he was wondering how I am doing now that I am going to be trapped on this property with Kirstin. And I wonder if I am going to be alone. There was a possibility that it would only be Kirstin and me here for the majority. Scott then sighed.

Scott: That's not a bad idea. But can we talk about this later because I am pretty exhausted?

Mitch: Are the girls asleep?

Scott: Last time I checked.

Mitch: Okay. Good night, Scott.

Scott: Good night.

The two boys hang up, and Scott falls asleep. The cabin seemed quiet as the three friends slept. I slept soundly, but as sleep overtook my exhausted body, my dreams came to life.
