My eyes fluttered open, and I realized that I was in a house. Something seemed strange as I noticed that it just wasn't right. A cry split the still air, and I recognized the cry at a moment's notice. Kirstin! What is going on? I wondered as I walked to the window. I looked down out of the window and couldn't see anything. Nothing? Well, why was Kirstin so upset? My mind tried to figure out what this was. I thought I heard voices outside my door, so I decided to go open the door. I began to walk towards the door, then I stopped. A bright orange light outside my window caught my attention. When I turned, it suddenly disappeared. Huh? Was someone having a bonfire, then they extinguished it? I shrugged, then I heard Scott's worried tone: "We need to get her out of there!" Get who out of where? I wanted to yell, but I knew that it would be no use. My voice wouldn't carry as far as Scott's voice sounded. Then I suddenly heard the cabin creak, and I shuddered. A strange smell came into my nose then I knew what was going on. I knew why Kirstin was so upset, and Scott was worried: The cabin was on fire! Instinctively I ran to the door only to burn my hand on the doorknob. I'm trapped! I ran back to the window and smiled as I saw Mitch comforting Kirstin. The warm feeling that I had soon subsided as I saw Scott trying to get into the cabin. No, Scott. Don't you even think about it. I looked to the door, and smoke was now seeping underneath my door. Once it reached me, I began to cough. The smoke made it incredibly hard to breathe. I collapsed to the floor as I continued to cough. I listened in horror as Mitch cried out: "Scott, no!" The cabin creaked again, and then I really could feel the burning pain as the flames lapped at my body. Suddenly my bedroom door was kicked open, and Scott rushed into the room. I stared in horror at how badly his injuries were. He was terribly burned, and his hair was singed. He must've run through fire. I thought as he crouched down beside me. Scott gently picked me up, and as soon as he took a step, a loud cracking sound rose into the air above the roaring of the flames. Then without any warning, the cabin collapsed, sending Scott and me into complete darkness. My burnt body lay still as Scott coughed, and his vision cleared. He stumbled to his feet and rushed over to me. Scott gently lifted my head as he tried to wake me up: "Kailyn, stay with me. Please don't leave me." Scott shielded my body the best he could do from the dying flames. He lifted his head and cried, "Someone help, please!" Scott looked down at my motionless body and gasped: "Kailyn! No, stay wi-" He broke off as he realized that my body was not moving and was now limp. Scott let out a cry of agony and held my burnt body closer. "I loved you, Kailyn. I'm sorry I couldn't save you again." Tears fell from his blue eyes as he gently placed his head on mine. He held my hand and gently hummed a song. My breathing slowed, and soon I was dead.
