Looking through the peep hole of the door, which Rainie had perviously heard a scream come from, she gasped lowly when she seen her daddy kissing, touching and hurting her sister. Her big sister.

She took a small step back when her sister looked over at the door. Even as a child, Rainie knew her sister couldn't see her. I wasn't the fear of her sister finding her, it was the fear of what was in her sisters eyes. The eyes that held nothing for years, had an emotion. An emotion so strong it could bend a bar of gold. PAIN.

Waking up with a gasp, Rainie, rolled out of bed and ran towards the bathroom. Lurching towards the toilet, she heaved up what little was in her stomach. Her heart beating wildly and tears streaming down her face from the vivid memory. It was after...

No, Rainie. Don't think of that. Its the past. Keep it there.

After wiping her mouth she flushed the toilet, and rinsed her mouth out. Knowing she wasn't going to get anymore sleep that night she decided to go down to the kitchen.

Walking in, her eyes were drawn to the chair that the boy, Cody, was sitting in only hours before. He was the neighbor, but he was doing some house repairs for Ashling. His nerdy glasses and dark hair was one for the eyes of any girl. Even with the nerd look, you could tell he was built. he had a smirk to kill and no doubt had girls fawning over him.

But Rainie immediately didn't like him.

He had a cheery carefree attitude. One so innocent, one that hasn't suffered great pain. She was dangerously envious of this.

Even with this petty excuse to dislike him, she was oddly drawn to him. His out look on life was bleak and simple. Something that has been a foreign concept to Rainie for years. Her out look on life was dangerous, dark and lonely.

Cody, on the other hand, wanted to befriend her. She had gone through something terrible. Something one could only have nightmares over. And he wanted to know what it is.

He just didn't know how far it would push him.

Walking up to the sink, Rainie poured herself a glass of water and put a slice of bread into the toaster. While waiting for her bread to cook, she got a small pot of yogurt and the butter from the fridge as the toast popped. After buttering the bread she ate her small breakfast in the silence of the house.

A few hours later, Rainie found herself in a small library room. The walls were book shelves but the room couldn't have been bigger than a utility room. Pulling out a personal favorite she sat on one of the purple bean bags scattered around the room.

A knocking on the door brought her out of her trance and towards Cody who had now poked his head in the door.

'I'm off to the supermarket. Do you wanna come?' He pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose and ran his hand through his, already messy hair. Closing over her book, Rainie stood up from her seat and silently, made her way towards the door.

First thing about starting fresh: Loose the attitude.
