As we were walking we walked past a pile of sticks in someone's yard and I saw what looked like two worms sticking out of the pile but then a bird flew down to grab one and a sneak sprung from the pile and wrapped around the bird"A Ceraste, you don't usually see them in towns, don't worry they-" Hawthorn started to say but I didn't hear the rest. the moment Hawthorn acknowledged that he know what it was I ran. I ran until I came to a tall wooden wall and when something moved under my left foot I jumped onto a tree next to the wall and used it to climb over then I walked away from the wall and sat down on the ground to catch my breath while staring at the wall.
After a few minutes, I saw Cecil and Lou Ellen climb over the wall followed by Hawthorn jumping over the wall and losing his hat as it snagged on one of the branches of the tree but he didn't seem to worry too much about it and ran right over to me.
"Don't just run off like that! what if you ran into a monster and I wasn't there to help?" Hawthorn said
"I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking" I said
"Are you scared of sneaks?" Lou Ellen asked as she and Cecil walked over
"Maybe" I said looking away from her.
"Hey" A man said as he walked up to us.
The man was a short and solidly-built man with hazel eyes, and thick, brown hair and he was wearing a white shirt with ties and baggy sleeves that had a green vest over it. he also had a pair of brown pants and dark brown boots. hanging from his belt was an old tankard
"I just had to come over and tell you I love your horns" The man looking at Hawthorn
"My horns?" Hawthorn asked reaching up and just now realizing that his hat was gone
"Yeah, Can I ask how you got them to look so real?" The man asked
"What?" Hawthorn asked confused
"Well I've been coming here for years and I've never seen anyone with horns as real looking as yours" The man said
"Coming where?" Hawthorn asked
"The renaissance faire, where else?" The man asked as Hawthorn had just asked a stupid question.
I looked around to see tons of old looking buildings with weapons, clothes, masks, tankards, jewelry, armor, potion bottles, and all kinds of other things.
People walking around were dressed in clothes from every era and there were also people dressed as what I would have fantasy creatures a few days ago.
There were Fairies, Elves, Orcs, winged Demons, and even a few satyrs.
"He's not actually from here" I told the guy with a wink
"Oh, gotta" the man said and both Cecil and Lou Ellen seemed to catch on. Hawthorn however did not and still looked confused
"So what brings you here?" The man asked
"We're on a quest" Lou Ellen said
"What is your quest?" The man asked
"To help Satyr friend get back to his home in the Fay wilds" Cecil said
"The Fay wilds uh, you play?" The man asked
"I've played one or two one shots but never a full campaign" Cecil said
"Fay wilds? What is that?" Hawthorn asked
"Sadly he has lost his memory which is why he needs help" I said
"So he's a satyr?" The man asked.
"He doesn't look like one" the man added
"He's undercover, there are people who would have him dead" Lou Ellen said
"There are monsters who would have us all dead, and what is all this about bringing me back home?" Hawthorn asked
"Man, you're really dedicated to this character" the man said
"What character?!" Hawthorn yelled still completely confused
"Alright, alright" the man said
"You guys have a good day. And go luck with your quest" the man said using quotation marks when he said quest then he walked away.
"What was all that?" Hawthorn asked
"Why did you say you are on a quest to bring me home?" Hawthorn asked his voice rising but not in an angry way in an I don't understand what's going on kinda way.
"What is the Fay Wilds?! Hawthorn yelled
"Relax" Cecil said
"Love the horns!" A woman yelled from somewhere.
"What is going on here?!" Hawthorn yelled
"Wait I know there's just a bunch of clear sighted mortals all in one spot....but why?" Hawthorn said and both Cecil and Lou Ellen gave me a look of concern like you've known him the longest do something
"Hawthorn, this place is a renaissance fair. People come here dressed as what they think are myths, legends, or as people from the past" I said
"What does that have to do with me?" Hawthorn asked
"The people here think you are a normal person dressed as a satyr" I said
"So, they don't know I'm real?" Hawthorn asked
"No, they don't" I said
"That makes sense now that you explain it" Hawthorn said
"Question" Cecil said looking at Hawthorn
"Yes?" Hawthorn asked
"What is a clear sighted mortal?" Cecil asked and I was glad he did because I had been wondering the same thing.
"A clear sighted mortal is someone who is not a Half-blood but and sees through the mist like Mr. Ellsworth. He's most likely a clear sighted mortal since he could see the monsters that had been coming after Lou Ellen" Hawthorn said
"And what's the mist?" Lou Ellen asked
"It's what hides our world from everyone" Hawthorn said
"That way people don't freak out when a monster walks down the street. I get it" Lou Ellen said.
"That's smart, but how did you come to that conclusion?" Cecil asked
"Because it's the same as magic" Lou Ellen said and Cecil waved his hand in a go on kinda way.
"If everyone knew what I could do was real they would be scared because of the many things I could do with it and because it's something they don't fully understand or can't explain. But if someone says it's just a magic trick that gives them something. They could say that I just found a way to make it look real, like when you have someone in a box and the magician stabs swords threw, people could explain how the person came out unharmed by saying the back of the box opens so the person wasn't inside while the swords were being stabbed in." Lou Ellen said
"I guess it makes sense when you put it that way" Cecil said
"Now, how do we get out of here?" Hawthorn asked
"That's a good question" I said
