Team Avatar were taking a quick break in the forest. You sat cross-legged opposite Sokka, who was trying to teach you how to play Water, Earth, Fire, Air.

"What?" you demanded, brows furrowing in both anger and confusion. "How does your water beat my earth? That doesn't even make sense!"

Sokka just shrugged, a smirk on his face. "That's just the way it is, Y/n. Don't be salty because you've lost three times in a row."

"Don't get cocky because I promise you, this is the only fight you'll ever be able to beat me in-"

"Hey, guys?" Aang's voice interrupted your sentence and you all turned to look at the boy. He seemed to be looking for something. "Where's Momo?"

You all mumbled how you didn't know, joining him in looking for the animal. Eventually Aang spotted him hanging in a cage trap in a nearby tree, along with two other animals.

"Hang on, Momo!" Aang shouted, using his airbending to fly up to the tree, jumping from tree trunk to tree trunk to get higher. He found the traps mechanisms, undid them and carefully lowered Momo to the ground where you and the others were waiting. You opened the trap and the lemur ran out with a lychee nut in his mouth. You watched as Momo got on his hind legs and ate it as if nothing happened.

Aang landed on the ground and looked up to see the other animals seemingly crying out to him for help. "All right, you too."

He jumped back up the tree. Sokka rolled his eyes, exasperated. "This is gonna take forever."

He threw his boomerang to simply cut the animals free.

Aang blinked in surprised as the monkeys fell past him. "That works."

The hog monkeys ran up a tree and out of view as Aang dropped back down to the ground. You knelt next to the traps in the dirt, examining them.

"Fire Nation traps," you said, running your fingers over the materials. "You can tell from the metalwork."

Sokka frowned. "We better pack up camp and get moving."

You all gathered up your things and began to pack them onto Appa's saddle, but Sokka stopped you.

"Uh uh," he said. "No flying this time."

Aang turned to him, confused. "What? Why wouldn't we fly?"

"Think about it: somehow Prince Zuko and the Fire Nation keep finding us. It's because they spot Appa, he's just too noticeable."

"What? Appa's not too noticeable!" Katara insisted.

Sokka dramatically pointed at Appa. "He's a gigantic fluffy monster with an arrow on his head! It's kinda hard to miss him!"

You had to agree with him there. "That's true. Appa's a bit bigger than the other birds flying around. Uh, no offence."

Appa just yawned softly. Aang frowned and petted his head. "Don't listen to them, boy. They're just jealous 'cause they don't have an arrow."

"The arrow is pretty cool," you mumbled.

"Look, I know you all wanna fly, but my instincts tell me we should play it safe this time and walk," Sokka stated.

Katara leaned towards her brother. "Who made you the boss?"

Sokka pointed a finger at his chest. "I'm not the boss, I'm the leader."

You and Aang were baffled. "We have a leader?"

"And how can it be you?" Katara asked, amused. "Your voice still cracks!"
