. . .

Appa flew above a mountain with Sokka at the reins whilst Aang paced around the saddle, breathing heavily.

"Would you sit down?" Sokka demanded, turning around from his perch on Appa's head. "If we hit a bump, you'll go flying off."

"Yes. You're running around like a headless chicken-pig. It's freaking me out," you agreed. "What's wrong?"

"It's what Avatar Roku said," Aang replied worriedly. "I'm supposed to master all four elements before that comet arrives."

"Well, let's see. You pretty much mastered airbending and that only took you a hundred and twelve years," Sokka said in a sarcastic and amused tone. "I'm sure you can master three more elements by next summer."

"I haven't even started waterbending and we're still weeks away from the North Pole. What am I gonna do?"

Katara grabbed Aang's arm. "Calm down, it's going to be okay. If you want, I can try to teach you some of the stuff I know."

The Avatar smiled. "You'd do that?"

Katara nodded and looked over the side of Appa's saddle. "We'll need to find a good source of water first."

Sokka grinned, speaking sarcastically, "Maybe we can find a puddle for you to splash in."

Appa landed beside a large waterfall and river. Aang and Katara looked ecstatic, Sokka was frowning and you were indifferent.

"Nice puddle," Sokka grumbled.

Appa flew down to the river and created a huge splash that soaked and almost knocked Momo off the rock he was perched on. The bison turned over and floated on his back. Aang took off his shirt, smiling.

"Yeah! Don't start without me, boy!" Aang exclaimed, running towards the water.

Katara folded her arms over her chest. "Remember the reason we're here."

Aang stopped in his tracks and looked at her sheepishly. "Oh, right. Time to practice waterbending."

"Great," Sokka said sarcastically. "So what am I supposed to do?"

"You could... clean the gunk out of Appa's toes," Aang suggested, handing him a branch with a bushel of leaves at the end.

Sokka frowned and crossed his arms. "So, while you guys are playing in the water, I'm supposed to be hard at work picking mud out of a giant bison's feet?"

Aang smiled somewhat cheerfully. "Mud and bugs!"

"What about Y/n?"

"He can help you!"

"No," you said immediately, walking away to get some more training in. Aang just shrugged and Sokka sighed miserably, taking the branch and walking over to Appa.

As Aang and Katara started their waterbending training, you got into a stance of your own, practicing your punches and kicks against a nearby tree. Then you grabbed your bow and drew an arrow, doing some target practice. Sokka noticed and approached you, throwing away the branch with Appa's toe gunk.

"What are you doing?" Sokka asked. You didn't spare him a glance, focusing on your target.

"Training," you answered simply. Sokka watched as a leaf fell from the tree and you released your arrow, hitting the leaf dead in the centre and pinning it to the tree. His eyes widened in amazement as you walked over to retrieve the arrow.
