Team Avatar flew through the air with Aang sitting lazily atop Appa's head with a twig in his mouth. Sokka was carving something with an uninterested look on his face. You lay with your back against Appa's saddle and your arms behind your head, your conical straw hat tipped down to cover your face. Once you had recovered from the initial shock of a bison that could fly, you allowed yourself to relax slightly.

"Hey, Y/n," Sokka called, looking up from his project to address you. You didn't move but made a quiet noise of acknowledgement. "Back in the village, the Fire Nation called you something. The White Rogue, right? What was that all about?" [If anyone has any cooler names please tell me because I'm struggling]

You sighed through your nose, closing your eyes. You hated that name. "Wasn't the first time I've fought the Fire Nation."

"You mean it wasn't the first time you've killed their soldiers?" Sokka asked. You stayed silent, giving him his answer.

Aang glared at you. "How many people have you killed?"

"Be a bit sick to keep count," you mumbled, pulling your hat down lower over your face. You wished you could just disappear.

Aang shook his head, turning to his friends in disbelief. "I can't believe you guys wanted him to join us."

"Aang, people die in war all the time. Sometimes to survive, you have no choice but to kill. Besides, it means there's less Fire Nation for us to fight," Katara said, trying to be optimistic. Aang grumbled and turned away from you, focusing on guiding Appa through the sky.

And once again, the four of you fell into awkward silence. Sokka went back to whatever he had been carving, and Katara propped herself up on her elbows, staring dreamily over the rim of Appa's saddle.

"Those clouds look so soft, don't they?" Katara said after a while, somewhat dreamily. "Like you could just jump down and you'd land in a big, soft, cottony heap?"

Sokka turned to his sister mockingly with a smile. "Maybe you should give it a try."

Katara looked at him with annoyance. She turned away from him again, speaking sarcastically. "You're hilarious."

"I'll try it!" Aang volunteered enthusiastically, suddenly in a chipper mood. Carrying his staff, he jumped off Appa with a big smile on his face. As he began to fall, he spun around once before falling spreadeagled, still grinning broadly. "Yeah!"

Sokka and Katara popped their heads over the rim of the saddle, looking down in the direction Aang went. Even you were curious, pushing your hat up and out of the way before peering over the edge to see the airbender.

You watched the boy vanish into a cloud, and Katara looked slightly concerned whilst Sokka stared wide-eyed at the spot Aang disappeared.

But then Aang popped back up behind you on his glider. The three of you turned around when you heard the snapping sound of Aang's glider being closed. The Avatar plopped down on the saddle, dripping wet and a big smile on his face. Sokka looked at him, unimpressed.

"Turns out, clouds are made of water," Aang said happily, looking down at himself. He used airbending to dry himself off. Sokka still looked unimpressed. Katara glanced at her brother, but her attention was drawn to something over his shoulder.

"Hey, what is that?" she asked, and all of you followed her gaze. Below you, a large, dark patch of land had been burned in the lush green forest.

"It's like a scar..." Sokka observed, and you frowned. The Fire Nation left an ugly mark on the world.

Aang landed Appa amongst the devastation and you got out to look at the many burned trees and shrubs. The four of you stood in the middle of a barren, grey patch.
