"Why did I even offer?" (Y/N) mumbled to himself. He rubbed his hands together, trying to get his fingers warm. He regretted coming out here.
(Y/N) was a little upset that Jessica had caught up to them. (Y/N) wanted a chance to reconnect with Mike. He hated the way their friendship was right now. It was awkward. Not Mike's fault of course, but (Y/N)'s.
He knew Mike would be surprised when he offered to walk with him. But he shouldn't have been. He should've expected it, since they're friends.
But (Y/N) ruined their friendship. He didn't answer Mike's texts, ignored his calls, he didn't even go to parties if he knew Mike was going to be there. He thought Mike was like he was before: arrogant. That he didn't care what happened that night.
(Y/N) was wrong. Mike actually seemed remorseful. (Y/N) could see the regret in his eyes. Regret began to fester inside (Y/N), as well. He basically threw away their friendship for no reason.
He thought about turning back and telling Mike he was sorry. But alas, Mike was with Jessica now. It didn't take a genius to know what they were up to.
(Y/N) did feel bad for Jess, though. Mike didn't actually love her. (Y/N) thought about telling Jessica, but it wasn't his place. She needed to her that from Mike. Plus, she probably wouldn't have believed (Y/N) anyways. (Y/N) was curious who Mike really liked. Lucky girl, whoever she was.
"Shit, it's so cold," (Y/N) whispered, looking up at the sky. The snow just continued to fall. He knew it was winter, and that it was like this every year, but he still hated it. Why couldn't Josh invite them up during the summer?
(Y/N) continued walking. He heard a branch break and stopped in his tracks, curious. He looked to the direction of the noise. It was just trees and snow. He couldn't really see anything. He left the flashlight with Mike.
He heard another noise. This time, it sounded more like a screech. It made (Y/N) jump. "Hello...?" He questioned, raising his voice. There was no response. He tilted his head in confusion. "Um... Who is it? Josh?"
The screech came again. (Y/N) was worried. He climbed over the fence blocking the path from the forest. He began to walk, searching for whatever was making that noise.
He searched for a few moments, but found nothing. "Real funny, Josh..." He pouted, figuring Josh was messing with him. He was always a prankster. Of course it had to be him.
He turned around and laid his eyes upon the scariest creature he'd ever seen in his life. It had long, slender limbs, sharp, canine like teeth, and glossy, rotted skin. It was eating a deer, it's hands covered in blood.
(Y/N) froze, unsure what to do. He began to take a few steps back. Suddenly, he felt a gloved hand cover his mouth. He gasped, eyes widening.
"Shh..." The voice whispered. (Y/N) didn't know where to look. He just kept his eyes trained the creature, worried it was going to do something. (Y/N) didn't know what to be more scared of - the creature or the person. "That, there... is a Wendigo," The person said. It was a man. With a deep, scratchy voice. (Y/N) had no idea who it was. Or what a Wendigo was.
(Y/N) breathed heavily. He put his hands up, showing he wasn't a threat. To the man or the creature, he wasn't sure. (Y/N) couldn't even speak, too afraid to even do that.
"It can tear through flesh like scissors through paper," The man told (Y/N). "If it sees you, it'll kill you. You understand?" (Y/N) nodded quickly. It felt like time was going too slow. He could see the snow falling, piece by piece. A second felt like an hour. What the fuck was going on? "You... You're going to come with me, got it?" (Y/N) nodded again. He wanted to run, but he knew he couldn't. The creature would kill him if he did.
The man removed his hand and (Y/N) turned around to face him. He couldn't see his face, really. It was covered by a beanie, a bandana, and goggles. (Y/N) could see something strapped on his back, like a gas canister, almost. He could also see the shotgun the man held and pointed at (Y/N). The man gestured it in the direction that he wanted (Y/N) to walk.
(Y/N) walked, making sure his hands were still up. He felt the gun press up against his lower back and a chill surged throughout his body. He froze out of fear, but the man pushed the gun against him again and he continued walking, trying not to freak out. (Y/N) took one last glance at the creature, the Wendigo, and continued to wherever the man was taking him.
