"Shit, that's cold," (Y/N) said as the wolf guided them outside. The snow was blowing harshly with the wind. It seemed to be getter brighter outside, though.
"You want my jacket?" Mike asked, a little too eagerly. He immediately wanted to smack himself after saying it.
(Y/N) looked at him with amusement. "Mighty forward, aren't you?"
Mike felt a hitch in his throat. "Well, I, uh-"
(Y/N) laughed softly. "I'm just kidding, dude. You can keep your jacket."
Mike sighed. "Right. Yeah." Why wasn't he good at flirting with (Y/N)? For most of his life, Mike has been know as the ladies man. He was great at getting girls. But the second it came to (Y/N), he was terrible.
The three walked inside the next building. As soon as they stepped foot inside, the wolf began to growl, barking at something in the distance.
"Okie dokie, boy. Calm down," Mike soothed. The wolf barked one last time before settling down. He continued looking in the distance.
"Do you see what he's barking at?" (Y/N) asked, trying to see, but to no avail.
"No clue."
"Wonderful," (Y/N) sighed. The wolf continued on and they followed him, making sure to not let him get too far ahead.
The three came upon a caged door. The wolf was able to squeeze right through, but the others couldn't.
"Wish I could move like you, wolfie," Mike said to the wolf. The wolf had stopped, knowing the others couldn't quite followed.
"Here," (Y/N) pointed to a lever on the wall. "Worth a try, right?" He pulled down on the lever and the door behind them closed.
The other door only opened partially. "Great," Mike rolled his eyes. "Can you get through?"
"Can you?" (Y/N) teased. He squeezed through the open crack. Mike just smiled at him, then slided through the crack.
"You see that?" Mike grinned at him. "I do got moves."
"You don't have to tell me..." (Y/N) replied with a cheeky smile.
Mike didn't know what he quite meant by that, but by the tone of the other's voice, he could figure it out. "Glad someone noticed," Mike said to him with a wink.
(Y/N) just laughed softly. They continued to follow the wolf through... wherever they were. Suddenly, the wolf began to run ahead.
"Hey, slow down, wolfie!" Mike called out to him. The two ran up to catch up to him. They saw what he was growling at.
The other wolf. His body was... torn open, his head nearly falling off. His guts were everywhere.
"Oh, son of a bitch..." Mike muttered. (Y/N was already soothing wolfie, giving him sympathetic scratches. Whatever had done this had to be close... Mike wanted to get the hell out of there. "(Y/N)..."
"I know," (Y/N) whispered back. He gave the wolf a soft pat and it seemed to understand. It continued guiding them down the path.
Mike could see something in (Y/N)'s expression. Like he finally understood what kind of danger they were in. He didn't know what to say, but he knew he had to stay something. "(Y/N)..."
(Y/N) took a moment to respond. He was lost in his own thoughts. "Hmm?"
"We're going to be okay."
"You think so?" (Y/N) glanced at him, his face of worry.
"We've got wolfie here, right? He'll keep us safe," Mike told him, trying to lighten the mood.
(Y/N) bit his lip. "Right. I guess." Mike knew he didn't really believe him, but he didn't want to pressure (Y/N). He just had to show him they would be okay.
