The man kicks the door open further. He surveys the room for a moment and sees the fear in all their faces. Especially Mike. He can see his hand, or what is left of it, and realizes that it was him in the Sanatorium.

"Ok," The man says, taking a step closer to Mike and Chris. At this, the two men step back towards the girls, who all back up as well. "Everybody just calm down." The group didn't really seem to understand him. They looked like a deer in headlights. Jack let out a grumble, his eyes landing on the couches. "Now just move over there," He commanded, motioning towards the couches. The group was still until Jack yelled at them again.

The group settled there, eyes locked on the stranger in the room. He had too many weapons to try and attack him. Mike had thought about it. Thought about beating the man to a pulp right there and then. But the man knew where (Y/N) was and Mike didn't.

The man walked close to them. Almost comfortable, like this was his own house. He walked to the fire before he began to talk. "I'm here to tell you what you're up against being back on this mountain. You should never have returned. I don't know why you did after what happened last year." He drops the bag he's been holding onto the ground.

"You mean with Hannah and Beth...?" Ashley asks meekly and afraid.

"Yeah," Chris added. "How could you know without being involved-"

"Or responsible?" Sam accuses, glaring at the stranger.

"You hold on to your horses," The man grumbles, turning to face the kids. "I don't take kindly to you kids coming up here to my mountain-"

"Your mountain?" Mike scoffs. "I'm sure the Washingtons would be very surprised to hear that."

The man chuckles for a second. "Well, this mountain don't belong to me, it's true. But it don't belong to the Washingtons," The strangers says, taking a breath. "This mountain belongs to the Wendigo.

The group turn to themselves and begin to murmur, unsure of what he is talking about. Mike doesn't want to hear anymore, but Sam urges him to let the man talk.

The stranger waits for them to turn their attention back to him before he talks again. "Now I'm only going to tell you this once. It doesn't matter to me if you believe it or not. I got reasons I want to... Get it off my chest..."

"See? I told you!" Mike says to the others, standing up. "He's guilty as shit!

"Shh! Shut up, Mike," Sam snaps at him. She's still afraid of the man in the room. She doesn't want Mike, or anyone, to do anything that will upset him. Sam knows about (Y/N). She knows the stranger must have taken him. And like Mike, she knows that they need him to cooperate to find their friend.

"There is a curse. That dwells in these mountains. Should any man or woman resort to cannibalism in these woods the spirit of the Wendigo shall be unleashed," The man further explains, ignoring Mike and Sam's bickering.

Mike freezes like a statue. His mind turns to Jess... That thing... It wasn't a man. The thing that killed her... It was a Wendigo.

"You're going to need to find somewhere safe," The man warns them.

"The basement might be okay," Sam tells the group. No one disagrees with her.

"Okay. Get down there, now. All of you. And wait."

"What? Why? For how long?" Sam questions. She hates not knowing exactly what is going on. There are so many questions she needs answered.

"Until dawn," Emily answers, thinking back to the fire tower. She knew help would be here soon. She started to doubt how much help they could be, though, knowing there were literal monsters roaming around.

The group starts to get up, but Mike is locked in place. Sam walks up to him and places a hand on his back. "Mike, let's go..."

Mike's mind is swirling. His thoughts are everywhere. His mind finally lands on Josh. He left Josh out there. Alone. "I ran off and left Josh when I heard screaming."

"Where did you leave him?" The man asks, walking up the Mike. Mike tenses, but doesn't back away.

"In the shed."

The man nods, but his face tells the truth. "Your friend will already be dead."

Chris argues with the man. Sam whispers to Mike while the others are talking. "You okay?"

Mike shakes his head. "Where is he, Sam?"

Sam blinks slowly. "I don't know." Chris and the stranger start to leave. "Wait, where are you going?"

"We're going to save Josh," Chris answers proudly.

Mike can't let the man go yet. Not until he knows. "Where's (Y/N)?"

The man stops in his tracks and looks Mike in the eyes. "He's safe. That's all you need to know."

Mike clenches his teeth. "Where. Is. He?"

The man scoffs, not willing to argue with another person. Sam steps forward. "Can you bring him to us?"

The man sighs. "It'd be suicide to." He begins to walk and Chris follows him. The stranger looks back at Mike. "I'll bring him after dawn."

"Thank you," Mike replies, surprised he said that. Did he really just thank the guy who kidnapped him?

"The rest of you get down to the basement. Be safe. Don't go outside again until we're back," The man orders and the group listens. Sam gives Mike a sympathetic look before the two of them head down to the cellar.

It's only three people. Mike, Sam, and Emily. "Where's Ashley?" Emily asks as Sam closes the door behind her.

"She's worried about Chris. She's still in the lodge," Sam replied.

Emily notices Mike pacing about the room, looking all over. "What are you doing?"

"Finding another way out," Mike answers simply. His eyes land on a door that leads towards the basement. "Bingo."

"Are you fucking crazy?" Emily scoffs.

"Mike, we're safe here..."

"But (Y/N)'s not," Mike says. "And I'm betting you he's in that fucking Sanatorium."

"Uh, excuse me?" Emily asks, confused.

"The Sanatorium. Some miners went there, some of them survived, but like... fifteen of 'em didn't make it," Mike told her. "There was this reporter and I think he figured out there had been some, like, big cover-up going on. I found these plans - they knew the mines was a death trap, but they let the miners keep working anyway. And... I'm not sure what it means, but... I found this chair, with dried blood all over the place... like somebody'd been tortured."

"What the fuck does this have to do with anything, Michael?" Emily snapped, crossing her arms.

"I'm just saying it's weird how much crazy shit's gone up here."

"Is that where you lost your fingers?" Sam asked. She had tried questioning it earlier, but Mike dismissed her.

"Yeah... There was this trap. Freaky shit," Mike told her. "And I'm worried that there are more traps there. (Y/N) needs us."

"He needs you, Mike," Sam replied softly. Emily had a confused look on her face, but the others ignored her for the moment. She took a deep breath. "Fine. Just... be safe. And bring him back safe."

Mike nods and turns to leave. "No one leave. Okay? It's not safe out there. I'll back back soon."
