3rd person POV

Izuku was in a holding cell after his interrogation while Aizawa was downing his fifth coffee of the hour and Tsukauchi was nursing an ice bag to his eye. Let's just say that Izuku had enough of the questioning and was getting a little stir crazy. He was never a fan of small spaces, unless he was in the middle of a cuddle pile with his friends. That was more comforting than anything.

Both men were trying to hold onto Izuku for as long as possible and Izuku was making it very easy for them. Aizawa couldn't get over the likeness he shared with his deceased friend while Tsukauchi wanted to learn more about the Dome. The saying goes 'curiosity killed the cat', but poor Tsukauchi never saw that right hook coming for him. It all happened so fast.

Anyway, back to the green bean, Izuku was pacing up and down his small cell as he was debating whether he should simply break out and get back to the Dome.

On one hand, he can get away from his uncles before they found something out and dragged him back to the world he wished to get away from. He also needed Kiyo. He tried to hide it from the others, but he can't sleep without having Kiyo there with him. Izuku wasn't sure when it started, but when he was around his neko boyfriend he wouldn't have any nightmares. It was hard to remember the last time Izuku had slept without being woken up by his inner demons, trying to drown him in his painful memories that threatened to consume him.

The only reason Izuku could think to stay was that he would be on the run from the police. He could see what his uncles were doing, what they were planning so they would use any excuse to track him down and question him until they got their answers. If that were to happen, he would be endangering everyone he promised he would protect. All the people society choose to forget about are relying on him and he can't be the reason they are all found and forced back in the bad situations that he just escaped from. Over his dead body would he let the police take them back, family or not.

Giving in to the idea of staying in the small, confined holding cell, Izuku let out a sigh and laid down on the metal bench. The night was going to be a long one.

~ Time skip - Next day ~

Thank goodness Izuku was able to contact his boss this morning otherwise he would have to spend another day staring at the same four walls. The quirk cancelling cuffs weren't strong enough to supress his quirk so there was a good chance that Izuku would have broken something, namely those four walls. He would fix it after, but that explosion of power would have ended up hurting a lot of people without him meaning to.

It's always best if there is a way to keep injuries to a minimum. There are already enough people getting hurt - or worse, killed - on the streets, it didn't need him adding to it.

Since Izuku didn't have a shift today, he headed straight back to the Dome, but not before buying food and more supplies. He also made sure to make the route as confusing and nonsensical as possible as Aizawa was tailing him from the rooftops. He really needs to work on that, Izuku thought. He simply didn't understand why Aizawa would be following him in broad daylight when his strengths lay more in the shadow of night.

Aizawa's rash decisions aside, Izuku managed to lose him and was in front of the Dome in a matter of minutes. The only reason he had yet to enter was that he knew that there wasn't going to be a pleasant experience on the other side. He was gone for a day edging on two. Being gone for a few hours was bad enough so he could only imagine the reaction for being gone for longer.

Stalling long enough, Izuku made his way inside.

The silence rang as he was seen by everyone inside.

Then the dam broke.

Everyone from all sides crowding around him, demanding answers and explanations as to why he didn't come back sooner, why he didn't simply break out of the police station. He had a powerful quirk, it would have been easy to do and yet he didn't.

Through all the chaos, a little neko managed to get to Izuku and cling onto him like his life depended on it. The little form was shaking, giant tears leaking from his eyes as he snuggled his cute little face in Izuku's neck, reassuring himself that his mate was there - really there and just his imagination. Sure, it was only a day or so away from each other, but that was too long in the neko's opinion.

Izuku, seeing how upset his mate was to his absence, managed to calm the crowd at least enough to sit down on one of the vacant beds and comfort Kiyo more, whispering calming reassurances in his ear, promising to never stay away from him for that long ever again. There was nothing that would keep him away.

"Everyone, calm down. I'm sorry for not coming back yesterday but I had to keep this place safe and that meant dodging the police's questions. Had I broken out, they could have followed me here or chased me for longer. This was the better solution. I can't put you all in danger. I apologise and promise not to let it happen again." Izuku stated.

Once everyone was appeased, they went off to do their own thing while Izuku tried to get Kiyo's tears under control. His other friends knew that they shouldn't interfere and so the two were left alone for the time being.

"Kitten, what's wrong? I know that I was gone for a little bit, but I called. I wasn't out fighting people like last time." Izuku said in an attempt to calm Kiyo down, even only a little.

"I was so scared." Kiyo mumbled in between sobs. "I knew that you were safe and that you were going to come back, but I couldn't help but feel this sense of dread. My heart hurt whenever I turned around and you weren't there. My heat isn't even near which made me more anxious as to how I was feeling. I tried to distract myself, but the dread got more and more intense. Please, don't leave me again. I know that it's impossible to be with you all day every day, but please..." The little neko buried his head more firmly into Izuku's neck, his scent helping to calm him down a bit more.

Izuku simply sighed. He knew that Kiyo would react like this. There was nothing he could do but be there to reassure his mate. Words don't mean anything to Kiyo, Izuku knew that, so he simply sat there with Kiyo in his arms as he cried himself to sleep. It made Izuku feel all the worse for causing such a reaction due to his absence, but he knew that he couldn't have the police chasing him. He needed to keep everyone here safe. If that meant a week of lectures, chocolates and lots of cuddles, then that was a price he was more than willing to pay.

I'm so sorry this chapter took so long T^T !!! (and is short, it's over 1200 words, but still)
I've been having problems with my laptop and I've been travelling a bit as well. I apologize for not updating in like 3 months, I did NOT mean for that to happen. I still have a busy week or two ahead of me, but I will try my best to keep on top of this fic.

Again, sorry!

See you in the next chapter!
