Part 22

I looked out the window at the limousines pulling into the driveway. I had counted 80 so far. This was no small party. I could hear the music playing downstairs people chattering and drinking already. Drinking human donors. Cye had prepared a list of donors to walk around and let each vampire drink from them as they chose to. They were dressed in all black with a red sash that labeled their blood type across it. Each vampire had a specific flavor they liked of course.

The mansion was decked out in black, red and gold. Streamers and roses were placed strategically throughout the main hall making it look somewhat like a dream world. They hung from the ceiling and ran down the walls. Balloons covered the floor so every time you walked, they shuffled with you. Cye spared no expense for our party. He truly did love me. He wanted to convince the council I was a good idea, that saving the world and going back to the old way was a good idea. He was showing me he was changing.

I heard him knock at my door. I took one last look in the mirror and put my ring in my purse. Opening the door, he gasped when he saw me.

"You, you look stunning. I have never seen anything more beautiful in my life."

He came in the door and grabbed me up into his arms, breathing in my scent.

"I love you so much Luminaria."

"I love you too Cye Bian."

"We should talk before we go Cye."

"It can all wait; this is too important."

"But I..."

"Just enjoy this evening, Lumi."

We kissed, and when we did, I couldn't help but feel like it was our last.

The orchestra started playing and Cye grabbed my hand pulling me out the door.

"That's our que my love."

"Cye, do you want me to wear my ring?"

"No. You are too beautiful."

We walked out of the room to the top of the stairs looking at each other we began descending. Everyone stopped talking and stared in our direction. The orchestra stopped playing. You could hear a pin drop it was so quiet. Cye just squeezed my hand and smiled at me. Letting me know it was ok. For some reason in that moment, I felt stronger than ever. We stopped at the bottom of the stairs looking out into the crowd of vampires gawking at us. Cye raised his champagne glass and dinged it.

"Everyone, raise your glasses to my soon to be wife the Goddess of Fire and Snakes Lumi Rose."

The crowd raised their glasses and drank in silence. I saw Magla in the back of the crowd making her way to me with her 7 Devils in tow. I was thankful to a familiar face. Everyone was gawking at me.

"We are here to ask your approval in union. As you can see, she is the one we have been warned about. The one the books told us to fear. Yes, it is true she has great powers, and she can end our lives. She chooses to save mankind and end the madness among us. With our union we can save humanity. We will rewrite the books and make rules for our kind. New laws, no more free feeding on the unwilling. I ask the council to give their approval this night."

"I stand with my brother Cye Bian and Lumi Rose in their union among our people. I accept you as my sister." Magla said as she and the7 Devils bowed in front of me. Then stood taking my side. Several other members of the council did the same. Slowly several more came. Hundreds stood talking amongst each other, I could see that something wasn't right.

My eyes darted to the Mercy Brown room when I saw the statue sliding across the floor. Coming out of the floor were two women side by side. They clapped slowly as they walked towards us. The balloons floated with them to where we stood, they were laughing in sync.
