Part 14

I woke up still in the comfort of Cye's arms. He never left me. I also didn't have another bad dream. Knowing he stayed gave me a feeling of security I have never had. I wanted that, but I was so scared that it was with a vamp. Eventually as time passes, I will age, but he won't. What then? I shook my head to shake the thought away and buried my face in Cye's neck.

"Good morning." I said in the nape of his sweet-smelling neck kissing it.

"Good morning, did you know you moan in your sleep?"

"What? I do? Well, if I did it was because I was still thinking about you." I smiled up at him.

He squeezed me tugging me closer to him and let out a sigh.

"I have plans for us today, just you and I." He told me.

"Are we leaving the house? I could really use some fresh air."

"We can't. You can't it's not safe yet. I promise to make it a day to remember.

My heart sunk thinking I was stuck in Cye's home for safety reasons. If I could only remember what happened the night of the rave. All I really knew is I needed to make this work between Cye and myself to save humanity. Our child would be the one to bring an end to the madness in this world. Also, I may have selfish reasons. We laid there a little bit longer holding each other as Cye gently ran his fingers down my arm. I loved his touch. The door to my room opened abruptly.

"Miss Lumi OH!"

Cye and I both sat up in bed startled by Clara barging in my bedroom unannounced. When Clara saw us, she dropped the tea she had in her hands. The look on her face was almost of hurt or anger. I couldn't quiet read her or understand why she would be upset.

"CLARA never come in here unannounced! Lumi's chambers are the same as mine you must ALWAYS knock!" Cye jumped out of bed pulling on his pants he was angry. I hadn't seen him angry about something so minor before. I wondered where the hostility was coming from.

"Cye, it's..."

"SHHH, IT'S NOT OK LUMI. CLARA LEAVE US NOW."

"But her tea sir."

"LEAVE US." Cye seethed through his teeth.

Clara ran out of the room in a huff slamming the door. Cye grabbed his shirt and began to leave after her turning back to me one last time giving me a half smile," Meet me when you are dressed in the main hall."

Then he left me, in the bed alone and naked. I heard Cye's voice in the hallway he was reprimanding Clara still. I went to the door to listen. Cye told her I didn't need any more tea; he knew what she was up to? I stood with my back against the door biting my lip. What was he talking about? Maybe he was in bad vamp mood. Fuck it. I need to get dressed.

I went into the huge closet and spun around plopping down into the plush chair. I looked at all my options.  If I'm staying in, I'm going to be comfortable. I grabbed a Free Britney t-shirt with slits all over it. It hung off my shoulder showing Cye just enough skin to make him want me all day. I paired it with my army green tight joggers, and hot pink Leopard Nikes. I grabbed my mascara and lip-gloss done! Before I left the closet something caught my eye. In the corner of the closet on the dresser, was picture that wasn't there before. It was a picture of Early, Corabelle and me. I walked over to it feeling the ache in my heart. I needed to see my family. Who put the picture here? I grabbed the picture and held it close to my heart.

My head flew back my back arched and my feet lifted off the floor. I could hear the call of my ancestors speaking to me through the picture. Over and over again the same words holding me suspended in the closet.

"UNETLANVNI (oo-net-la-nuh-hee) Great Spirit. INADA (snake)."

I felt the scales forming on my neck again. The burning in my fingertips the fire from my belly burned brighter. The ancestors chanted louder and louder.

"UNETLANVNI INADA"

I knew at that moment I had been bitten by Amura's python.
