I woke up to something you only see in movies now. The ocean was covered in oil as far as the eyes could see, but what scared me the most was that I didn't see any boats nor smoke in sight. "What in the hell?" I whispered to myself. "Cut the engine!" I yelled as loud as I could, but nobody seemed to have heard me. I rang the bell and yelled again, "cut the damn engine!" I climbed down the crows nest and ran to the captain's room. He was passed out with beer bottles rolling around on the ground as the ship swade back and forth from the waves of the ocean.
The captain had a half empty bottle of beer in his right hand as if he fell asleep while drinking it. I tried waking him up, but he gave off a foul smell that made me want to puke . I ran out and remembered that I didn't need his help or his permission to turn off the engine.
I ran as fast as I possibly could, but it was too late, somehow the oil caught fire and the ocean lit up in flames and they surrounded the ship and there was nowhere else to go. I was terrified thinking that this was how I was going to die. The flames were spreading rapidly and I wasn't thinking straight when I put the ship into full speed.
The ship flew through the flames and cut through the water. Minutes pass as I see land in the distance. I was heading for it when the captain came running towards me and hit me on the back of the head. I fell to the ground rubbing my head and yelled, "what the hell was that for!" He grabs the steering wheel without saying anything back, he didn't seem fazed by the burning water. He stops the ship and it lights up in flames, the captain looks at me and says, "everyone dies eventually." I look at him confused, what a stupid thing to say, I thought. The captain runs and jumps off the side of the now burning ship and plunges into the water.
The fire that was on top of the water scorched his body. His skin was melting as he cried out in pain. His screams eventually died out as he disappeared under the sea. I sat in horror at what I just watched. The front of the ship was almost fully caught on fire, but the back was covered in flames.
I got up and tried to start the ship again, but it was no use. "What an idiot!" I yell as I pound my fist on the steering wheel. Water was pouring in now and the ship was going under.
