"Wait a sec, how big?" Steve asked as he drove us to Dustin's house.

"First it was like that. Now he's like this." Dustin explained using his hands to describe how big Dart is.

"I swear to God man, it's just some little lizard okay?" Steve said dismissively and I immediately leaned forward again.

"Lizards do not look like that. That thing looked like a scaly dog without a face." I commented before Steve reach to push me back into my seat.

"Exactly, It's not a lizard." Dustin agreed with me.

"What did I say about the seatbelt kid? Now how do you know?" Steve asked looking over at Dustin.

"How do we know it's not a lizard?" Dustin asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, how do you know if it's not just a lizard?!" Steve sassed.

"Did you not hear what I just said? Do lizards look different in Hawkins? Am I missing something?" I scoffed leaning forward again.

"It could be a big lizard, maybe you're over exaggerating." Steve countered, glaring at me in the rear view mirror

"His face opened up and he ate my cat." Dustin said and there was a moment of silence as the two of us just looked at Steve expectantly.

"Alright, glad we're on the same page." I muttered as we pulled up outside of Dustin's house.

We all quickly got out of the car and I followed the two boys to the truck where Steve immediately pulled out a bat with nails before we went over to the storm cellar where my bat was sitting on the ground. I stood beside Dustin with my bat gripped tightly in my hand as Steve walked over with a flashlight towards the poorly chained doors.

"I don't hear shit." He muttered as I looked around. It was now completely dark outside which made this all the more terrifying.

"He's in there." Dustin muttered an I nodded in agreement as Steve glanced over at us before gently tapping his bat on the door. When nothing happened he slammed the bat against the door to create a louder sound but again no sound was heard from the cellar.

"Alright, listen kids. I swear, if this is like some sort of Halloween prank, you're dead." Steve muttered pointing his flashlight at our faces.

"It's not." Dustin an I said in unison as we shielded our eyes.

"Alright?!" Steve asked

"It's not a prank!" Dustin muttered

"Stop with the flashlight man!" I complained.

"Fine, you got a key for this thing?" Steve asked gesturing to the bike chain and I pulled the key out of my pocket, handing it to him.

Once the cellar was open Dustin an I stood back as we watch Steve open the doors and kneel down to look inside.

"Let me see that." Steve whispered grabbing my flashlight to shine into the underground room but we didn't see anything.

"He must be further down there." Dustin suggested

"Maybe he died, you did kick him down the stairs." I whispered with a shrug and Steve turned to look at me but before he could say anything Dustin did.

"We'll stay up here in case he tries to escape."

"Go on, we're children. We're to young to die." I urged gently pushing Steve's arm and he sighed before he walked down the stairs.

"Steve?" Dustin called out after about a minute of silence.

"Oh god he's dead." I whispered when he didn't respond immediately.
