"You're positive that was Dart?" Lucas asked as we walked through the woods.
"Yes, he had the same exact yellow pattern on his butt." Dustin replied
"He was tiny two days ago." Max pointed out and she would be right. But it would seem that these creatures don't abide by the laws of nature and now, what was a small palm sized pollywog a week ago, is now the size of a full grown golden retriever.
"Well, he's molted three times already." Dustin explained
"Malted?" Steve asked confused
"Molted." Dustin an I corrected in unison.
"He shed his skin to make room for more growth like hornworms." Dustin added before Steve could ask what the difference was.
"When's he gonna molt again?" Max asked almost hesitantly
"It's gotta be soon." Dustin replied
"An of course, when he does he'll be fully grown or close to it. Him an all the other ones, however many of them there are." I muttered, shuttering at the thought of those things walking around town. It was a horrifying thought to have, especially when you're walking through the woods in the dark.
"Yeah, and then he's gonna be eating a lot more than just cats." Steve muttered
"Wait, a cat?" Lucas said stopping in front of Dustin and we all turned towards the two of them.
"Dart ate a cat?" Lucas asked in disbelief.
"No, what? No." Dustin lied
"What are you talking about? He ate Mews." Steve said looking at me for clarification and I nodded.
"Mews? Who's Mews?" Max asked confused
"It's Dustin's cat." Steve clarified
"Steve!" Dustin hissed as he signaled for the older teen to shut up.
"I did not scrub blood out of your bedroom carpet for four hours just for you to lie about this Henderson." I muttered with my hands on my hips.
"I knew it! You kept him!" Lucas yelled in an accusatory tone.
"No! No. No, I... No, I... He missed me. He wanted to come home." Dustin and I scoffed in disbelief as I threw my hands up in the air.
"Bullshit!" Lucas argued
"I didn't know he was a Demogorgon, okay?" Dustin exclaimed defensively as I looked around at the woods that surrounded us.
"Oh, so you admit it?" Lucas asked in a loud tone of hostility.
"Guys, who cares. We have to go." Max hissed
"She's right. We shouldn't be out here if those things are roaming around. Especially not if you two plan on yelling at each other, you'll only attract-"
"No, I care! You put the party in jeopardy! You broke the rule of law!" Lucas yelled cutting me off
"So did you!" Dustin screamed in response
"What?" Lucas scoffed as Steve, Max, an I shared a look of mild irritation
"You told a stranger, the truth!" Dustin said pointing his flashlight in Max's face.
