"No way." I laughed walking down the hall with my friend/bandmate Lily and her older brother Miles.

I met them the day after we moved to Lenora. Will, El, an I had decided to take Nicky to the park near our house and I brought my guitar. I was tuning it while humming along to the tune of some Black Sabbath song Eddie was always listening to, when Lily approached me. I immediately thought she was cool because she had pink hair an a Metallica shirt on. She invited me to join her band saying they'd been looking for a guitarist for months and I happily agreed. While Joyce was skeptical at first she was also thrilled that I was already making friends.
"I'm so serious. Angela was all over him, it was disgusting." Lily said as she retold the story of how Angela tried to hit on the Captain of the football team. He was a senior name Chris and he has a college girlfriend, apparently he's the hottest guy in school but I don't see it. In my opinion he's just a big bully and I've stood up to him on more than one occasion. So much so that everyone in school knew not to mess with anyone in my presence until they wanted a black eye or a busted lip.
"Honestly serves her right. Little miss perfect needed to be taken down a peg or two." I shrugged turning an opening my locker.
"Easy for you to say, she's afraid of you. You've got the respect of all the coolest people in school." Miles commented and I rolled my eyes.
"I wouldn't call it respect. They think I'm a freak and they're afraid of me because of what I did to the basketball team for bullying my brother." I attempted to reason. It was an infamous incident that got me a weeks suspension, a month an a half of detention, and grounded. But I'd do it again in a heartbeat to defend Will, or El, or Nicky, or Jonathan, or even mom.
"Which they deserved." Miles commented and I laughed grabbing my backpack, before slamming the door of my locker shut and putting the lock back on it. We started to make our way outside
"Hey are we still in for band practice tonight?" Lily asked but I shook my head.
"Can't, I'm going back to Hawkins for spring break, remember?"
