"That's all for today," spoken by Miss Barrett ending her class for the day.
Today marks the first day of year eleven. Everyone's excited to meet old friends and to make new ones, unlike me. I really hate first days of school. It makes me feel like I am pushed to socialize with new faces which means new adjustments.
"Hey, Gabb. Let's have lunch outside the campus." said Aimee, my long-time-best friend, who started to be my bully in grade three but is now my guardian angel for life.
"Why? Is there some new cafeteria outside?" I asked knowing that she's up to something.
"Yeah. And I heard lots of newcomers are eating there," she excitedly replied.
"And so? You know how I hate dealing with strangers," I don't know why we made a great relationship. She's a complete opposite of me. She always wants to make acquaintances with whoever she likes.
"Exactly. We'll work on that."
Maybe because she always try to get the best out of me. She's never tired in trying to improve me for the better. And maybe because she's the sweetest.

The two of us entered into a crowded cafeteria just across the campus gates.
I felt a little confident as I think I was looking bit fit today. Even though I don't like first days, I still prepare for it. I lose weight and made my long wavy hair colored brown. I wore a navy blue pullover, black skinny jeans, and a black Converse. I even put light make-up for a little glow.
After eyeing for empty seats, we found nothing. So we decided to leave but as we head to the door, someone called my name.
"I think someone just shouted Gabrielle," Aimee whispered.
"I heard it too."
Gabrielle Tyler! To your left!
I turned my gaze to the left corner and I saw a waving hand. And that hand belongs to my childhood friend Courtney.
I walked to their table and Aimee followed. Courtney stood up and welcomed me with a tight hug.
"I missed you so much. It has been so long. How are you Gabby?" she asked still hugging me.
Honestly, I was surprised with her reaction of seeing me. She was right it really has been a long time since we last met when we were seven and my family had to move. And yes she is my childhood friend because we were neighbors before and we used to play together, but we were not as close as I could remember. I even hated her for sometime for being so bossy and tetchy when it comes to playing or doing something.
"I'm good."
"That's good to hear. Come on take a seat," she said gesturing for us to take seats in front of them.
"I would like you to meet my two loyal friends. Lindsey and Monique," she added.
I greeted back and introduced Aimee. "She's Aimee, my best friend."
"By the way, how are you? your parents? What brought you here?" I continued still confused why she's here.
"They're fine, I guess. But me, I am depressed right now. And that's what brought me here," she sadly replied.
"That's sad to hear."
"Gabb. I'll get some food," Aimee cut in and I nodded.
"What happened?" I added.
"I don't want to ruin your day but I think I need to tell this to someone close to me like you," she leaned over and whispered.
"Yeah, I think so. It might lighten your burden."
She sighed and started to talk. "I'm here because I want to forget. I want to start new. I moved here alone, my parents are still living at the old house. They said this will be the best way to move on."
I just nodded for her to continue.
"My burden all started when I caught my boyf - my ex boyfriend cheating. I don't understand why he did that to me. We had two years of relationship. I can't find a reason for him to do that. I did everything for him, I even disobeyed my parents a lot of times just for him."
"Awful." I sighed.
"He's a jerk." Lindsey added.
"Yeah right. I caught him flirting with a girl in a restaurant. That night was supposed to be our anniversary celebration but he ruined it when I saw him outside hugging that bitch," Courtney angrily spoke.
"Did you asked him for explanation?"
"Of course I didn't. I was devoured with hatred and I don't want to hear his lies anymore. I've even discovered a lot of stories he made just to cover his mistakes," she replied.
Courtney was about to speak when Aimee came carrying a tray of food. The two of us started eating, Lindsey and Monique went to the comfort room, and Courtney continued her stories. She talked more about her ex, about how cruel he was.
After we finished eating, all five of us went back to the campus together for our respective classes. We've decided to meet again at the campus quadrangle after class.
--
"She's kinda weird. Is she truly your friend?" Aimee said doubting on Courtney's story.
"Let's not talk about that here, okay?" I cut and looked at a direction as I saw Courtney and her friends coming.
"Sorry for waiting guys. These girls just can't resist on looking at themselves in the mirror," Courtney shouted as she walk towards us.
"Let us go now I really have to be home at 6," Aimee said.
"Why? Do you have curf -" Monique said but something has interrupted her.
"Hey, hey, hey, Courtney. You'll never believe who's here."
Courtney followed her gaze and stopped in shock. Her face turned red and her fists curled in madness.
"No way. In all people. Brian is studying here! Could you believe that?" Lindsey laughingly said.
"Maybe it's destiny." Aimee added.
--
Oh, so he is Brian. And he's back for her, maybe. The guy who crushed Courtney's heart into tiny pieces. They're gonna be seeing each other's faces for the whole year. I don't know what to feel for her but this is gonna be something I want to keep track of.
--
So this is how it all started. Is Brian really destined for Courtney? Or is his destiny leads him to someone else.
