I stared at him still processing what he just said.

I broke our locked eyes, hand-brushed my hair up and muttered, "Uhm, I - I think I need to go now."

"Yeah, yeah. Uhm, thanks for dropping by. See you," Brian said.

I nodded and went out.

I walked my way and when I got home I heard voices in the dining area...

"Mom. I'm home," I shouted.

"Hey baby, your friends are here," mom shouted back.

WHAT?! My heart raced so fast I could hear it.

I rushed to the dining and found Aimee, Courtney, Monique and Lindsey eating snacks.

"Where have you been?" Aimee asked me.

"I thought you're mom is expecting you home early?" Courtney backed up.

Mom confusedly looked at me. I know I will be in trouble with this look of hers.

Shit!

"Yeah, I - I was walking home when I bumped into an old friend and had some talk..." I reasoned out.

"Okay girls. I'll be just in my room. Call me if you need something. Enjoy," mom smiled and said to my friends.

"Thanks Mrs. Tyler," Monique and Lindsey said while Aimee and Courtney are still staring at me in disbelief.

"So what brought you here? Why didn't you tell me you're coming?" I asked after mom got upstairs.

Courtney raised her brow at me and said, "It was supposed to be a surprise, Gab. We got here, and we expected you to be here earlier than us, but then you're not. So I guess, we are the ones who got surprised."

"Yeah, as I what I've said I bumped into someone that's why." I defensed getting nervous on Courtney's tone.

"I just hope that, that 'someone' is not Brian," she continued.

I felt my stomach turned upside down.

"Wh - what are you talking about...of course not," I murmured.

Courtney laughed and said, "Hey, chill out! I'm just kidding. Why do you look so nervous?"

"No I'm not. Why should I?" I breathed heavily.

"Hey hey hey. Enough with the Brian thingy. We are here to plan for the senior party," Aimee cut in.

Since then, we started talking and chatting on how are we gonna prepare and rock the party.

--

It was past nine in the evening, two hours after the girls went home, and I was sitting on the couch watching tv when mom sat beside me.

"Baby, can we talk?" She asked.

I nodded and turned the tv volume down.

She smiled and continued, "What is it that made you tell your friends that?"

"That's nothing mom. I'm sorry for using your name," I apologized.

She stared at me in disbelief and said, "I don't think so, baby. You can tell me."

"Mom, it is just some...teenage drama, nothing to worry about," I replied not wanting her to further ask me.

"Okay. If that's what you want," she surrendered.

"Thanks mom."

She smiled again and suddenly asked, "Anyway, how's Brian?"

"His wounds are healing but he didn't make it to school today 'cause his body aches," I explained casually.

"So, I could see you two are close friends. May I ask something?" She awkwardly asked.

"Sure."

"When Brian was beaten, are you with him?" She whispered like we were talking about something very confidential that dad, who was at the garage, shouldn't be hearing.

"No, mom." I lied. Again.

Is mom suspecting that there is something between Brian and me?

"I just happened to see him being beaten," I added.

"Oh. Okay then," she shrugged her shoulders.

"Mom, whatever is it that bothers you about me, you don't really have to worry. I can handle this," I reassured her seeing that she's still not convinced.

She placed her hand on my shoulder and said, "Okay, but I want you to know that I am always here for you."

"I know mom."

--

I woke up early in the morning for school and the weather was like it was so angry and sad at the same time. It was raining so hard, thunder and lightning has almost no interval, and the wind bends the trees down.

I sat on my bed and opened my tv hoping for some 'class suspension' news.

I think I really need some break from my teenage life.

And I was right.

I quickly grabbed my phone to inform my friends about it when I found 10 new messages.

Every message from my friends and some classmates tell the same information.

I replied to each one of them saying thanks and reminding them to keep safe.

I laid back on my bed and buried myself under my blanket.

Best. Feeling. Ever.

I was about to gain my lost sleep back when my phone rang.

Unknown number.

"Hello?"

"Hey Gabrielle."

"Who is this?"

"You know me."

"I don't, that is why I am asking. I'm tired of playing games. Okay? Just for you to know you disturbed my sleep."

"She knows about you and him."

"Who the hell are you?!"

"Chill out. Remember, this is just the beginning."

Call ended.

I was completely shocked. And scared. Really frightened.

I am sure it was the same person who beat Brian. And I know I already heard him sometime, but I can't still remember.

She knows about you and him.

She knows about you and him.

I really hope I am taking this wrong but as far as I could understand, this simply means that Courtney has something to do with this.

Is it possible that she already knew that there is something between Brian and me and that she made someone threaten us?

I just wish I was wrong.

My hand are shaking and I haven't noticed tears are running down my eyes when I decided to call Brian.

"Hey,"

I didn't say anything trying to stop weeping.

"Gab, can you hear me?"

"Yes, I can hear you."

"Wait, are you crying? Again?"

"I'm so scared Brian."

I failed to control my emotion and cried again.

"Oh my god, what happened? No, wait. I'll go there."

"No...need...it's dangerous outside..."

Call ended.
