Chapter 3

VEE POV

Days goes weeks and weeks goes months. It's already been two months since I joined Jaya Corp. To that, I already get attached to all my co-workers including my superior. I get used to the working environment at Jaya Corp by learning more in a span time of two months. After all, it was not a regretful decision I made to join here. Thanks to Mark because without his guidance and help throughout these two months I can't make it until here.

Speaking about Mark, he is such a reserved guy in the office and a co-worker who sits beside my cubicles, minding his own business. There are few male staff working at our office, Nuea and Bar are one of them and my seniors too. We have been together and having lunch together every day since I joined here.

"You guys ever talked to Mark before this?" I asked Bar and Nuea while having our lunch.

"Well, we do speak with him a few times before. Even when he joined here for the first time, we had lunch together and that was the first and last lunch we had with him." Bar said while munching his food.

"Even whenever I try to initiate a conversation with him a few times before, he always replies with short answers," Nuea said.

What Nuea said was true. Mark usually does not meddle in anyone's business especially, if it is unrelated to work. Even the day I saw Mark speaking more than a word was on the day he was giving the briefing. It's strange to see because Mark seems to look like a friendly person but whenever he comes to the office, he gets into auto-mute mode.

"I usually see him with Ploy. They usually had lunch together. Even Ploy seems close with Mark too." Bar said.

"I don't know man, maybe they are more than just friends who knows? Ploy always buys Mark's favourite coffee every day, Mark, on the other hand, brings Ploy to lunch. Day by day their action caused suspicion". Nuea said.

Yes, I'm jealous.

It all started when I saw Ploy for the first time at Uncle Max's office. I cannot describe my feelings towards her, but I can assure that it's not just an infatuation but more than that. Since then, I have been trying to get attached to Ploy. Usually, I ask her to come along for lunch or try to ask random questions for the sake to start a conversation with her. But all seemed to fail to get her attention because whenever I try to approach her, she always gives me some excuses. Worst case scenario, she ignores me sometimes T.T

I noticed that Ploy was different whenever she was with Mark. They usually had lunch together. Sometimes Ploy carpools with Mark when they come to the office. It always gives me this irritating sensation whenever I see them being together. It always happens when Ploy comes to Mark's cubicle. Oh gosh, I must witness their bubbly conversation. Sometimes I wish to be Mark whenever I see her touch and throw a small punch on Mark's shoulder while they talking to each other. Sometimes I intentionally interpret their conversation to make them stop before I burst out my jealousy.

"Speaking of them see who is coming," Nuea said while moving his head as to point the directions.

When I turn my back towards the direction Nuea showed, I saw Mark and Ploy were together entering the restaurant we were having our lunch.

"Looks like they're having so much fun being together. Not bad though they look good together." Nuea said while looking in the direction where Mark and Ploy were standing.

"I'm full. I go first. See you guys at the office later". I say to Bar and Nuea while quickly leaving the restaurant before witnessing anything that makes my heart hurt.

"Aww what's with Vee now," Nuea said.

"I don't know." Bar shrugged.

After I went to my cubicle, I bent and rested my head on the table. Seeing how Ploy treats Mark, it does not look like they are just friends but it looks more than that.

Sigh "Vee it is better to ask rather than come up with your stupid assumption." I murmured to myself.

I hear the entrance door being open and I raise my head and see Mark was coming in without Ploy.

"Where is Ploy?" I asked.

"Washroom. Why?"

"No, I'm just asking."

Mark nodded his head. The atmosphere became silent since it was only me and Mark who was there.

I looked at Mark who sat beside me. He was busy with his phone.

"Mark?"

"Hmm?" Mark answered while his eyes were still on his phone.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Hmm"

"Since I joined here, I see you and Ploy were always together. So, I was wondering that you and-

"No" Mark answered while directly looking at me.

"Huh?"

"No, Ploy and I, we are just close friends."

Mark moved his chair along with him by doing a tip-toeing gesture with his leg to get near me and I'm not going to lie he looks cute while doing it. He gets near while showing me his phone gallery. It was a picture of him and Ploy.

"This picture we took during our university days. Ploy and I studied at the same university. We close since then." And he shows me another picture.

"This guy beside me is James my best friend. James and I friends since childhood. Then we three get into the same university and become close since then."

It was the first time I saw Mark speaks more than three words. Weirder about him was he looked so excited and interested in showing me the pictures and talked about his best friend who I had never seen in my entire life.

Anyway, it was a relief when he showed me more photos they took together. I can see a genuine friendship from every picture he showed me.

"Sorry Mark, I thought you and Ploy were in a relationship because you both seem so close to each other, so I was curious about it."

"Vee single?"

"Huh?"

"I mean do you have a girlfriend or boy- "

"Oh, definitely single."

"Okay." Mark moved back to his cubicle. For some reason, Mark looked so happy after we ended our conversation. I had never seen this version of Mark before this. This man is strange.

Knowing that Ploy and Mark are just close friends was a relief for me. But getting her attention was a big issue now. I looked at Mark who continue looking at his phone and at that moment an idea strike on my mind.

Now Mark is the only hope for me to get close to Ploy. It seems they both always be together and if I close with Mark it's considered I'm getting nearer to Ploy too.

That's it! starting from today I will make a bonding relationship between me and Mark. 

I will go to any extent to be with her. It is because.....

"I love Ploy."

Note: Readers may notice the changes in Mark's behaviour when he communicates with Vee.  Well, the reason why he act differents with Vee will be answered in the next chapter.
