Kanzen's POV
We were out numbered.
If I had to guess, we'd probably been fighting for three hours. We had all been stabbed and/or shot, but it wasn't bad enough that we couldn't keep fighting. Besides, if we stopped fighting, we would die. I only hoped that the rescue party had gotten to the people that were captured.
Suddenly, I felt the air temperature drop. It was colder than it ever got when I used my left side. I spun around. Ice covered the room, and encased the guards. Right behind it, were our reinforcements. Haru had frozen so many of the Commission's guards in one attack, that the battle field was even.
After that attack, the fight only lasted another hour at most. When the last guards surrendered, we brought them downstairs and put them in the cells until the police came to collect them. The injured guards we treated, as best we could and left them where they fell. They weren't going to move no matter how much they might want to. Aizawa called the police and mentioned that we would also need some medical professionals, both for us, and the guards.
We didn't notice the last guard, until it was too late. Dabi threw himself at Keigo, and then Dabi fell, red blossoming across his chest. Keigo used his feathers to pin the guard, while Profile ran to Dabi. He had sacrificed himself for Keigo, and got a bullet to his heart. I called dispatch, and told them to send an ambulance. Dabi would die without a hospital.
The medics and police came soon with an ambulance right behind them. The police arrested the guards, and the medics immediately started trying to stabilize Dabi. Profile was crying a river. Was she close to Dabi, or something? The medics called for a helicopter, and kept working on Dabi.
As soon as the helicopter came, Dabi was loaded on to it, and flown to a hospital that could treat him.
Now that Dabi was gone, the medics had us line up to be examined, while two of them checked the group Gateway had taken to the woods with her.
When they finished with Gateway's group, Uraraka led them to the basement, where Shoto, Shigaraki, Yoarashi, and a young girl were being treated by Momo, Jirou, Tsu, and Fifteen. I had been shot in the arm, and there was no exit wound, so I was sent to the ambulance, where they could treat me.
They had me lay down, and gave me a local anesthetic in my arm. Then they removed the bullet, and one of the medics used their healing powers on me. Then they told me to go to the hospital to make sure they got everything. Gateway made a portal, and I stepped into the ER.
Hawks's POV
The four kids in the med bay had to go to the hospital, but the rest were healed and sent for a psych eval, before they had to be interviewed by the police. Those of us who came to rescue them were fine too, though a handful did have to go to the hospital just to be safe, but they were released by the end of the day.
The doctors said all four kids will recover, but they're not sure about Dabi, which is why I'm on my way to the LOV's base. I'm sure what happened at the complex is already on the news, which means Toga, Twice, and Compress will probably have questions.
I stepped into the base and yelled, "It's me!"
Toga ran over. "Hawks," she demanded, "What's going on? Are Tomura and Dabi ok?"
"Calm down Toga. Let's go to the bar, and I'll tell you everything."
Compress and Twice were already at the bar, with a beer each [Compress is canonically 32, and I estimate Twice is around the same age. Hawks is 23. Don't come at me for giving minors alcohol ]. Compress offered me a beer from behind the bar, which I declined. I wasn't here to drink this time.
"Judging by how Toga reacted when I came in, I'm guessing you all saw the news about Shigaraki and Dabi." They all nodded. I continued to tell them everything, from Shoto and Shigaraki's kidnappings, to the Project, and finally the rescue earlier today. The League didn't cry or anything, not even Toga. I think they were in shock.
"Why didn't Dabi tell us any of this!?" exclaimed Toga eventually.
"I don't know. He may have been trying to protect you."
"Well maybe we don't need his protection! Maybe we would of rather helped than have him die!" she screamed.
"Toga," started Compress, his voice cracking, "It's not his fault. Besides, Dabi might make it."
"But he probably won't!" she argued, "If he hadn't tried to save Hawks he would be here right now!"
"Maybe you should go," Twice said to me quietly, "We love having you here, but I think we all need to process this. Just know, it's not your fault."
"That sounds like a good idea," I agreed. "Will Toga be alright?" I added.
"I don't know." Twice said honestly, "She's always been emotional, but she saw Dabi as an older brother." I nodded in understanding.
I knew what it was like to loose a brother. I still dreamed about that day sometimes. I wondered if it was better to to be told of your brother's impending death, with no idea if he would live or die, or to watch it happen. Sure Touya technically died in the med bay, but part of me knew he wouldn't make it after he passed out. The image of Touya's burnt body surfaced in my mind's eye. I tried to push it back to the depths of my mind, where I didn't need to see it, but that only made the image clearer. I guess I'll be dreaming of that tonight. Great. I thought, as I left the LOV's base and headed back to UA, where we would be meeting one more time.
