Upon returning to the City you were exhausted.
You didn't even make it to the castle as you got off your horse and collapsed outside Elena's tent.
She heard the clank of metal and came running out to find you there in the early hours of morning.
The cool air kept prickling to your senses and you could see your own breaths.
She almost teared up seeing you were still alive. She hurriedly pulled your arm over her shoulders taking you inside the tent.
She prepared you some warm soup and sourdough bread to get something into your system for you probably hadn't eaten much since your depart.
Roughly an hour prior a swift messenger had rode into town delivering the news that Midland and the Band of the Hawk had successfully defeated Tudor and that the hundred year war had reached its end.
She never felt so blown away and grateful at the same time as she stared at you slumped over in one of her chairs eating the soup. She almost laughed. You had really done the impossible.
She didn't have to ask to know that you'd succeeded in protecting the one you cared for. She watched with a smile as you started to fall in and out of sleep in her chair mid bite.
She felt so proud of you as she draped a blanket over your shoulders.
Elena tended to your wound disinfecting and placing a small bandage over it too while you took your rest.

You weren't sure how long you had passed out for but you awoke to Elena shaking you.
"The Band of the Hawk has returned to the city" she alerted and you never sat up so quickly in your life.
"I over heard some soldiers walking past they were talking about how some man named Griffith is going to the castle" she searched your expression wondering if that meant anything to you. Any mention of the castle she assumed you'd know about.
Your face paled in realisation that Griffith was going to beat you to the castle.
You were probably the first person he wanted to see upon returning.
What's more is you needed to ensure you were there when he arrived to avoid any suspicions.
"Quick help me get this off!" you blurted in a fret as Elena hurried to help you out of the armour.
"What ever is the matter??" She asked in wide-eyed concern helping you get everything off.
"Griffith. He's the one I did this for! I can't let him see I'm missing from the castle or else he might figure this all out!" You cried and despite the urgency Elena found the whole situation quite sweet. You may have been radical in your actions but you really did have a heart of gold.
She felt happy that you had found someone special.
She threw a cloak over your shoulders and bid you farewell as you thanked her and hurried to mount your horse.
