When you tiredly awoke you could feel the warmth of the sun coming through the tent. You went to move only to groan in pain.
Glancing to your shoulder you saw you were all bandaged and taken care of.
You noticed Serpico nonchalantly leaned against the pillar keeping watch over you.
It dawned on you that he had saved you from your wound.
You also wondered how Guts were doing right about now.
Serpico coolly glanced over.
"He's gone you know. He left you"
You froze hearing those words.
It dawned on you that Guts had finally abandoned you. Your worst fear had been realized..
...
"This is an opportunity to rid yourself of such dangers."
"A man like that is no good for you."
He kept his calm glancing outside the tent as he spoke. It were drizzling outside and you could hear the sounds of the rain.
You grew quite frustrated by his words no matter how lightly he put them.
"What the heck do you know about it! Guts would never harm me anyway.." you shouted.
A glint seemed to form in his eyes having perfectly exposed a truth.
He'd been curious from the beginning.
"Hm. So you love him?" he crossed his arms looking at you more intently.
You were shocked and sat up in annoyance only to flinch from the pain.
He glanced to your shoulder.
"You're lucky to be alive you know."
"When he so thoughtlessly left you behind, had I not been around to tend those wounds; you would surely have died last night." He mentioned calmly.
You felt a pang in your chest hurt more by the words than your actual wound.
"Guts wouldn't have done that.. would he? You more so whispered to yourself than him.
Your mind clouded with emotion and you did everything in your power not to let him see you cry.
Your worst fear wasn't of death itself but of being abandoned..
You never really had anyone special in your life.
Part of you always feared that when you one day found it, they'd leave you behind like everyone else did.
Serpico watched the hurt form all over your face.
He calmly walked over and sat down on the bed next to you.
As if he had already predicted it before it happened, tears began to well in your eyes.
You stared down at your lap in disbelief.
His hand placed on your back comfortingly.
He gently guided you to lean into him and you felt your breath catch in your throat.
"You're more than welcome to stay here" he mentioned.
