It was late one night when i heard a soft tap on my window. Upon investigating i found it was hunter, still dressed in his golden gaurd uniform.
That was weird. Usually when he came to visit he wore his off duty attire- thats when i nodiced the amount of blood and scratches everywhere on him. Including a sharp gash going down the length of his chestplate.
Opening the large window i let him in. "Hunter what are you doing here? Are you alright?" I asked, feeling a bit worried.
"Got beat up pretty bad during a mission." He said, his voice trying to be nonchalant but it came out strained.
I took his hand and lead him to the edge of my bed. "hang on hunter ill get you some bandages and clean clothes."
Hunter nodded and sat down, removing his mask and armor. His face was badly bruised on one side, and blood soaked through his shirt.
"Oh handsome." I said, frowning at his latest injurys. "do you need some water too? ill get you some water."
"Thank you edric." He said, a small smile appearing on his lips.
"Anytime." I said, taking his face and kissing his forhead gently.
After applying some salve to his face I helped him remove his shirt.
Seeing his large injury my face paled. "H- Hunter! Why didnt you tell me it was this bad!" I exclaimed. wrapping the wound as quickly as I could, blood blooming through the white cloth faster then I could apply it.
"Hunter I can take you to the healers." I said, "Just say the word."
"Its alright Edric." Hunter replied. "Can you cuddle with me though?" I nodded, still worried but wanting to respect my boyfriends wishes.
"Do you want to tell me what happened?" I asked, gently warpping my arms around the blonde.
"Not now." Hunter said, voice growing weaker.
I nodded, reajusting my position so hunter could sit on my lap. Hunter obliged, wrapping his arms around my neck and burying his face in my chest.
Hunters Pov:
I knew I was dying. No medic could save me now as I had lost way to much blood, and my organs were beyond repair. Even as I spoke I could feel the heavy weight of life lifting from me as I rested in Edrics arms.
I didnt have the heart to tell Edric this but still, I wanted my last moments to be by his side. "Hey Edric?" I muttered. lifting my head slightly.
"Yes Hunter?" Ed replied, cupping my face in his hands.
"I love you."
Edrics face softened. "I love you too hunter."
"Talk to me please." I said, wanting to hang on just a ittle longer.
"I'll keep you up." Edric said, "You need to rest."
"No." I insisted, "I want to hear your voice."
"Awe thats sweet." Edric smiled, giving me a soft kiss that i did my best to return. "Hunter your the coolest person ive ever met, your eyes sparkle like the most beautiful rubies, your hair is softer then the finest cloth. Remember the time when you woke me up early in the morning to watch the sunrise? I would like to do that again sometime. You can grab my and and point out how the clouds have different shapes and i can laugh and pull you in for another kiss. . ."
After a while of listening Edrics voice began to fade away. Whether he had stopped talking or my ears had shut down I couldent tell but I still felt his warmth and heartbeat pressed gainst me as my own heart slowed.
"Edric?" I said, suddenly finding the energy to speak again.
"yes Hunter?"
"Thank you." I said, forcing back a cough, "thank you for everything."
Edrics pov:
"thank you." Hunter said, "thank you for everything."
"Wha-" I began to ask before Hunter dissolved into a fit of coughing, a trail of blood seeping form his mouth. I pulled him closer, trying to make his rattlig breaths calm but to no avail.
Soon after hunter stopped coughing. I relaxed for a second before nodicing his cough wasn't the only thing to have stopped.
The quick heartbeat i had felt up against me for so many nights had stilled. His chest no longer rising and falling with each breath.
"Hunter?" I asked again. Waiting for him to open his eyes. Waiting for any sign of life.
"Hunter . . ." I whispered, my eyes welling with tears.
"Hunter." I said holding him tighter, pressing my face up to his heart still hearing nothing.
"Hunter please." I cried, hot tears beginning to wash away the blood still soaking through his bandage.
"Please come back to me."
