Pov- third person

It had been a long month. Everyone was tired.

"This one will work i know it!" Luz said, a pained smile stretched across her face.

Amity held luzes hand tighter. "Luz. . . "

"I cant fail again."

"Luz it will work." Hunter said, trying to comfort her.

"What if it doesn't!"

"Then we can try again!" Hunter replied, putting a hand on luzes shoulder. "look its going to be ok."

Luz was at her wits end at this point. Hair in a messy ponytail, the jacket Eda gave her worn day and night- no matter the temperature.

Everyone else was stressed out too of course, Gus still crying himself to sleep every night, no matter how much he liked the human realm. Amity constantly pacing the floor and biting her nails, while Hunter, who was mostly quiet. Keeping an eye on his step siblings at all times-  glancing longingly at the sketch amity had drawn of her and her family.

Or more specifically, at Edric.

The two hadn't spent much time before the day of unity, but the stolen minutes behind closed doors, in the woods- it was enough for Hunter to fall in love with the blight boy.

Willow on the other hand, was doing a bit better- she missed her dads of course, and her girlfriend Skara- but deep down she knew they would be ok. Plus she had met a new partner, Vee. An adorable basilisk who loved listening to her read, and always helped willow and Camilla with the dishes. 

"Skaras going to love you." Willow always said, kissing Vee on the cheek. "Ill introduce you as soon as we make a way back."

Through days and nights the hex quad worked on the portals. Two were utter failures but the previous three has gotten so close Luz had gotten a glimpse of the demon relm, driving her to double her already doubled efforts.

"Ready?" Gus asked, reaching for the lever.

Luz nodded, looking away.  "Yeah."

Gus pulled, the machine sparking to life as the palisman began to run on their wheels. Faster and faster, sparks of electricity sparking through the door.

"Its gonna blow!" Hunter yelled, "Everyone back up!"

Everyone turned around, sprinting a few paces away before turning to watch as Luz, who was still standing there, walk toward the portal door.

"Theres a cable loose!" Yelled Luz, looking back on her friends, "Im going in!"

before anyone could stop her she ran forward, diving for the cable and shoving it further into the generator.

There was a pause.

Everyone stood still, silent.

Luz was still on the ground, breathing heavily.

The portal had stopped, all lights and flashes gone as if they had never happened.

"Wha--" Hunter started but before he could finish the portal sprang to life in a blaze of yellow and blue, the lights slowly clearing up to reveal a portal straight into Edas living room.

"Eda!" Luz yelled.

There was a crashing sound from somewhere in the house and eda stumbled out, full harpy mode activated.

"l- luz?" She gasped, tears welling in her eyes. "Is that really you?"

"Si Eda, Im back!" Eda rushed forward, wrapping her arms around the teen in a bear hug. Edas one robotic arm whirring to life.

"I thought I would never see you again!" Releasing Luz from the hug she looked up at the others, beaming with happiness. "Come hear kids."

After a long group hug and tearful hellos the group went outside where a group had gathered.

"Hooty said my daughter is back!" Alador said, panting for air. "Where is she?"

The parents of willow and gus arrived minutes later, embracing their respective children.

"Where is Edric and Emria?" Amity asked after her dad let go, searching the gathering crowd.

As if on cue the twins dropped from the sky. Palismans on their shoulders. Edrics hair has grown a few inches, tied in a loose braid and emira had her hair down.

"Amity!" They squealed, crushing her in a hug.

"Agh let go!" She chocked, "I missed you guys too."

"Willow!" Skara yelled breathlessly waving her scroll, "I just got the message! Welcome back!"

Flying into her girlfriends arms willow gave her a warm kiss.

"I met someone new Skar." She beamed, eyes sparkling. Skara gasped.

"Are they hot?"

Willow blushed, "Of course they are." Skara squealed with excitement.

"I want all the details!"

Hunter stood at the back of the crowd, eyes pointed nervously at the ground.

What would Edric think of him after all this time? Did he still care?"

"Hey kid." Darius said, his voice shaking a little as he put a gentle hand on Hunters shoulder. Hunter looked up with a gasp, falling into dariuses arms. "Im-- im so glad you're alive."

Hunter beamed with excitement, his worries temporarily washing away. "Darius! You should see my stiches! And I can speak Spanish!"

Darius was a little confused -not knowing what a Spanish was- but still gave Hunter a pat on the head and told him he was proud.

Hunter was later greeted by Raine, Eber, Steve and of course everyone else.

Later he sighed, slumping down next to a wall, away from the crowd.

Almost everyone.

'There you are." Edric said. Walking up to hunter and sitting down next to him, a respectful few feet away.

"Ah- Hey hunter!" Hunter said before blushing furiously and correcting himself, "I mean- h- hey Edric."

Edric smiled, "Well uh, its been a while."

"Yeah, yeah it has." Hunter said, looking at the ground before breaking the short scilence. "I missed you."

Edric looked at the blonde, lip quivering- before he suddenly broke into heavy sobs.

Hunter- who was still staring at the ground looked up in surprise, taking in the hot tears rolling down Edrics face.

"Edric?"

"I- I" Edric said through little shaking gaspes, "I missed you too."

Moving over hunter wrapped his arms around Edri,c burying his face in Edrics neck in an attempt to comfort him.

"Hunter. . ." Edric said, wiping away his tears. "I dont want to lose you ever again."

Hunters heart wrenched as he sat upright, meeting edrics gaze.

Both hearts were pounding as Edric cupped Hunters face in his hands. Drawing the blondes face closer to his own.

Lips pressed against each other Hunter reveled in Edrics warm embrace, running his fingers through Edrics soft hair, stomach fluttering with anxious joy.

Edric pulled away with a nervous grin, face tinted red.

"Ahem- Eda actually sent me to look for you, we should get back."

Hunter nodded and got up, pulling Edric up by the hand, not letting go once he had stood.

"Yeah we should."
