grocery store ; 17.00 hours
"That? Okay" you chuckled as the kids picked some sweets from the aisle.
Ethan and Leo were just following the three of you from behind.
Aiden was walking beside you while Ella was seated on the kiddie sit on the cart.
Ethan unconsciously smiled as he stared at the three of you in awe like a proud man of the house.
"You're staring" Leo chuckled while Ethan just rolled his eyes.
"Shut up or I will fire you in a minute" Ethan stated.
"Oops sorry" Leo grinned mischievously. Leo was Ethan's distant cousin.
He hired Leo the second he knew that he needed a job. He knew Leo since his father and Leo's father are cousins. They're very distant though but they're close.
"Sammie can we buy strawberries?" Ella pouted and you chuckled as you pecked her forehead
"Ella, we're supposed to only accompany Samantha, not buy stuff. We have enough at home and I think it's gonna be too much for Samantha if both of you buy the food that you both want" Ethan walked towards the three of you.
"Don't worry Mr. Carter–"
"Ethan, just call me by my first name" your cheeks flushed as you nodded.
"O-of course, Mr– Ethan" Ethan chuckled.
"You know, you and Ella are very similar. Her face flushes when she gets shocked or embarrassed" he said.
"Is that so?" You asked with a grin feeling more comfortable with the man beside you. He just smirked as he pushed the cart himself.
You were contemplating whether to ask him that question or not but you decided to give it a shot.
"Uhm Mr– I mean Ethan. Since the kids don't wanna go home yet, why don't you all have dinner at my place? I'll cook– I mean only if you want to since I don't want to bother you if you have any plans" you asked shyly but Ethan just looked at you with an amusing grin.
"Of course," he chuckled. After you paid for the groceries, all of you got inside the car.
The kids thought that they were already heading home so they were slumped on their seats.
Aiden leaning on you and Ella on your lap. "It's surprising how my kids warmed up to you that easily, they're not usually like that" he said.
"I don't know, I just feel comfortable around them and they probably feel the same so we clicked" you chuckled.
After a few minutes, you reached your apartment "do you really have to go?" Aiden frowned.
"Daddy, why are you getting down?" Ella asked.
"Why not? We're all having dinner at her place, right Samantha?"
Ethan chuckled as the kids squealed and ran out of the car and clung onto your legs
"Are you gonna cook for us?" You nodded and smiled. Ethan carried Aiden while you carried Ella.
Ella was playing with your hair and just staring at you as you walked.
She suddenly leaned towards your ear and said "you know? This is the first time a girl daddy likes to cook food for us" she giggled.
You just stared at her, "really? Where's your mom?" You asked.
"Daddy said she left. That's all" you just nodded.
You didn't really want to intrude or ask too many questions because it might be a sensitive subject, also considering that you just met the kids and you're not really a friend of their father, only his employee.
"Don't worry darling, Since this is your first time, I'll make sure to only cook and serve the best for you little ones" you nuzzled your nose with hers, making her giggle in delight.
You suddenly sighed, you're already in your mid-twenties. All of your batch mates are already married and if not, they're in a relationship.
Thinking about this makes you feel lonely. Your mother had been wanting to arrange you with someone but you didn't want to marry someone you didn't like or love.
Holding Ella and Aiden made you feel somehow, content.
